Different doesn’t mean broken. Neurodivergent brains may think, learn or process the world differently — but different is not wrong, less or faulty. Sometimes what’s needed is not “fixing”, but understanding and support. @Autism @ADHDFoundation #Neurodiversity

@jamesmurray_ldn 's NHS ConfedExpo speech (in full below) placed AI and digitisation firmly at the centre of NHS reform.
Innovation matters, but we should be cautious about presenting AI as a solution to problems rooted in years of underinvestment in primary care. Technology can help clinicians work differently and more efficiently, but it cannot replace the workforce, capacity and continuity that patients need.
AI should be part of the answer, not mistaken for the answer.

A strengths-based approach means seeing the person first: dreams, goals, friendships and potential — not just a label. Adults with learning disabilities and autism deserve support that meets them where they are. @mencap_charity@Autism@LearningDisEng
Prostate cancer can have no symptoms. But new loo changes matter. Over 50, Black, or family history? Ask your GP about your risk and whether a PSA test is right for you. It’s not perfect — but the conversation matters. @ProstateUK@CR_UK#ProstateCancer#PSA

Lads: when did you last check your testicles? Lump, bump, swelling, heaviness, ache or anything different? Don’t ignore it. Most lumps aren’t cancer — but they need checking. 30 seconds in the shower could save your life. @CR_UK@macmillancancer#TesticularCancer
Men don’t live as long as women. Heart disease, cancers and late diagnosis all matter — but so does not going to the doctor early enough. Blokes: don’t wait for a crisis. Get checked. @TheBHF@ProstateUK#MensHealth

High blood pressure often has no symptoms — but a quick check could save your life. ❤️ Many pharmacies offer free BP checks, and 24-hour monitoring may be available if needed. Know your numbers. @TheBHF@BloodPressureUK#BloodPressure#NHS

The data in GP records was a ‘aid memoir’ of consultations
It was & is a sharing of information between the patient & their GP to aid their care
The fact that people have decided it was more than that is the problem
It is NOT NHS database
It is an individual’s shared history
The Doctors Association UK continues to raise its concerns over plans for a new single patient record
Alarm among doctors & health experts about the proposals to hand the health secretary sweeping new powers to control patients’ data

That bowel screening kit through your door? Don’t ignore it. 📮 A negative result is very reassuring; a positive one may catch a problem early. Tiny kit, huge difference. @bowelcanceruk@CR_UK#BowelCancer#FITTest#NHS

‼️Misleading headline‼️
With hundreds of millions of GP appointments, complaints are a tiny fraction of interactions.
Most relate to access and communication, not proven clinical wrongdoing.
This reflects system strain, not incompetence.

Sleep apnoea is common, often missed, and NHS guidance says loud snoring, breathing pauses, gasping/choking noises and daytime sleepiness are key signs.
Don’t diagnose yourself online at midnight. Ask: “Do I stop breathing in my sleep?” @NHSEngland@asthmalunguk
Celebrating 300 years of Guy's Hospital.
Last night, Wilmslow Health Centre’s Dr Amar Ahmed and Dr Fari Ahmad attended the hospital’s tercentenary celebrations, returning to the historic medical school where they trained more than 30 years ago.
Founded in 1721 by Thomas Guy, Guy’s Hospital has made an extraordinary contribution to medicine, medical education and patient care, both in the UK and internationally.
The evening included a visit to the original medical school building followed by a gala dinner overlooking Big Ben, reflecting on three centuries of innovation, compassion and service.
What continues to define Guy’s is not only its academic and clinical excellence, but its enduring commitment to kindness, dignity and compassionate care.
The evening concluded with a personal message from King Charles III delivered by Dr Michael Dixon, Head of the Royal Medical Household and fellow Guy’s graduate.
