emptywheel.net/2026/06/13/fl… The leading law enforcement prosecutor in the DOJ's Civil Rights Division, Harmeet Dhillon, made a fuss over Turning Point USA's fight at the Whipple calling it an attack on journalism. Her prosecutors seem okay with misleading claims about Georgia Fort.

Usually when Iran does a "performative" strike they inform their adversaries first. Example Iran warned the U.S they would 'retaliate' after a U.S. drone strike killed Qasem Soleimani. That wasn't the case when the IRGC bombed the Arab gulf states.
Tehran signals that it is going to strike Israel for having violated Iran's red line by striking Beirut. The question is whether the strike will be more performative because of potential concessions Trump will offer Iran to refrain from a full response.

Anything that matches the 2015 JCPOA would be better than what we have right now. Which is what the Iranians agreed to in Oman before the U.S. and most importantly Israel bombed Iran in February.

Two things that you must see to believe: Alpha News buying the Star Tribune and Trump's claim that a deal was reached to reopen the Straight of Hormuz.

The Speaker of Iran's Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, described Israel and US foreign policy as a "game of bad cop and good cop." Trump may tell his favorite outlet Axios that he berated Netenyahu but until policy changes are made Iran will continuously walk away.

Multiple lawmakers have expressed to me how former House Speaker Melissa Hortman effected their poltical careers and often look to her as a model of public service. Here's a great Rolling Stone profile: rollingstone.com/politics/po…

Don't get excited every time Trump berates Netanyahu. Trump understands there is a growing American audience that is tired of foreign wars, foreign commitments, and being told everyone else's interests come before their own. Publicly creating distance from Netanyahu plays well with that crowd. But the U.S. Israel relationship is far bigger than either man. It's rooted in decades of political, military, intelligence and institutional alignment. The question isn't whether Trump criticises Netanyahu. The question is whether U.S. policy towards Israel fundamentally changes. Until then, treat these public spats for what they are: political theatre for a domestic audience increasingly frustrated with the status quo. Iran will respond to Israel at some point for attacking Beirut, and guess what? The U.S. will help Israel attack Iran back. Another round of confrontation is very much on the horizon.

India needs to catch up with Pak on 5th gen jets Post Operation Sindoor, India and Pakistan are looking to acquire a fifth-generation fighter jet. Pakistan, thanks to its ally China, is slightly ahead and could acquire an operational 5th-gen jet by the end of this year. It has also worked out a separate deal with Turkiye to jointly produce a 5th Gen jet called the ‘Kaan’. India is also taking two routes – one that entails ‘indigenous manufacturing’ and the second is ‘stop gap’, option of getting the Sukhoi-57 from Russia, aimed at countering Pakistan’s immediate acquisition. India, has a much larger fleet of 4th-generation or 4.5 generation fighters like the Sukhoi 30MKI and the Rafale, brought from Russia and France, respectively, but, for now, it lags behind Pakistan in the acquisition of stealth planes. India aims to complete the development cycle of the AMCA by 2034 so that the induction can start from the following year. It could have two variants, both dependent on foreign manufacturers. link to full text👇 tribuneindia.com/news/in-dep… @thetribunechd @IAF_MCC @makeinindia @IndEmbMoscow @DRDO_India @HALHQBLR

The US sends the President's son-in-law Jared Kushner and golf-buddy Steve Witkoff as mediators. Iran hires psychologists to review all final proposals because Trump is literally brain-dead. I am skeptical of a deal between the US and Iran.
There's a lot of discussion about how any deal Trump is signing with Iran is no better than JPCOA, which Trump ripped up bc he hates that Obama is superior to him. But ALSO remember that this deal is worse than what was on the table before Trump started the war, but Jared and Witkoff were too unqualified to know that.

💥Iran had previously already said there would be no signing today
JUST IN: Trump said the deal would be signed today. Then Israel bombed Beirut, and Iran found a way to kill the deal without ever touching it. Here is the trap. Iran cannot walk away. Its oil exports have collapsed from 2.1 million barrels a day before the war to under 300,000 in May, a $5.8 billion hit in two months. A country bleeding that fast does not get to be the side that torches a peace deal. So Iran does not torch it. Instead it lets the proxy do the work. Israeli jets hit Hezbollah in Dahiyeh today, three dead, six wounded, hours after the White House put a signing on the calendar. Israel says it was answering Hezbollah fire and gave CENTCOM a heads-up first. Iran’s chief negotiator, parliament speaker Ghalibaf, needed one sentence: the strike proves Washington “lacks the will or the ability” to keep its word, so continuing “is not possible.” Watch the move, not the missiles. Iran did not blame Israel. It blamed America. Every Israeli strike becomes proof that Washington cannot control its own ally, which means the deal dies of American weakness, not Iranian sabotage. Tehran keeps its economy’s last lifeline, the sanctions relief it desperately needs, on the table for the next round, and walks away from this one with clean hands. Israel, which says it is not even a party to this deal and was not asked before the announcement, just has to keep doing what it already wanted to do. Trump’s whole hand rested on one bet: everyone wanted the deal more than he did. Israel just called it. You cannot sign a peace your closest ally is busy bombing.

Trump tells Ravid that Netanyahu has "no fucking judgment." In reality, Netanyahu know exactly what he is doing and is JUDGING that an attack on Beirut - rather than southern Lebanon - is exactly what's needed to derail the pending US Iran deal.
🚨הנשיא טראמפ אמר לי: ״אין לביבי שום פאקינג שיקול דעת - העברתי לו את המסר הזה - שאני מאוד לא מרוצה מהתקיפה בביירות״

BREAKING: Iran rejects Trump's new claim to Axios that a deal will be signed "within the next few hours," calling it "out of touch with reality" given that nothing has been finalized and no agreement exists, especially after today's Israeli strike on Beirut, per Tasnim. Iran's senior negotiating team member Marandi separately says "there will be no more negotiations for now."

This is his fakest acting performance since Home Alone.
Trump tells N12 following the Israeli attack in Beirut: "Why did Bibi do this attack? Hezbollah fired and hit in the middle of nowhere. No one was hurt. And then he had to do this damn attack, and in Beirut no less. It really angered me They called me and said - sir, Israel is attacking in Beirut - an hour before we were supposed to sign the agreement. I couldn't believe it was happening. It's very bad Bibi has no fucking judgment - I sent him that message - that I am very unhappy We were supposed to sign the agreement this morning and the Israeli attack in Beirut delayed it. I think the signing will still happen today in a few hours. But the Israeli attack shook things up."
