Here are a few upgrades:
- Aperture Control w/ SerialEM 4.1-beta @Nexperion
- Great progress on CryoARM support.
- More flexibility about data storage locations.
- Easier installation procedure.

From having first-hand experience with this software, it is incredible.
The tomo part particularly, fills a gap in the field. Never build a tomogram manually again.
And for SPA preprocessing, you can't get faster than this with parallelization up to your cluster limits.

SmartScope v0.9 collecting at a rate of 421 movies/h on R2/1, 7-shots per hole, very conservative 4.5um max beam-image shift.
Setup time after the scope was aligned: 20 min.
Fully automated from there.
😅Just need to improve the display of the targets at the medium mag now..

Simply provide a few information and SmartScope will suggest optimized multishot per hole pattern with some stats about total hole coverage and fraction of the images that is within the hole.

My in-person @ucdavis biochem class was "ZOOM-bombed" today by a structural biologist @GntlmnScientist from @UCBUSA. We made lemonade out of lemons. Students loved having you in class, David. (I stream via ZOOM to record & for those who have a hardship).

Today I tried the Light ‘em up to set collection on a grid where i knew there were a lot of empty holes. It worked nicely! Look at all the crappy data I can skip! Thanks @WimJHH for the tool.
