I’m not a hardcore cyclist, but I am hardcore about having the option to cycle in my city. @Right2Bike

Cyclists are a street life minority that face higher risk for road injury/death. It is not enough to simply adopt protective policies. We need a change in attitude from motorists, law enforcement, and the judicial system about who belongs in our streets. @Right2Bike

Countless policies throughout history have disproportionately affected and oppressed POCs. Regulations surrounding e-bikes have perpetuated this injustice. Cyclists (of Color) have the right to travel without fear of being profiled or subject to police harassment. @Right2Bike

Transportation is the largest contributor to GHGs and most of this is vehicles and trucks. We know that cycling is the greenest way to get around. Cities must prioritize and encourage cycling because all people have a right to a healthy, clean environment. @Right2Bike

CBOR #12: Cyclists have the right to contribute to a sustainable economy by riding. Not only does the bike industry directly contribute to economic growth by providing jobs, it contributes indirectly by improving health, environment, mobility, and sales in retail. @Right2Bike

Cities should enable people to prioritize their health and provide options for doing so. Offering low-stress, traffic-free trails or greenways encourages people to get out and get active and in turn has immensely positive effects on both mental and physical health! @Right2Bike

Great! Now every person working on the implementation of this should be required to read this manual... it’s even half of this month 😉
🚲NEW REPORT🚲“The Five Borough Bikeway: Critical infrastructure connecting NYC” calls for NYC to build a 425-mile citywide network of protected bike lanes as part of COVID-19 recovery & rethink how streets become safe & equitable for all #BuildtheBikeway bit.ly/3d8Hv62
It’s not a car you need to move all that stuff. It’s a safe and slow urban environment. Given that, you can still use a bike to carry your suitcase, shopping bags, food, couch – even your boat! We’ve seen it all. @Right2Bike #bikes #cyclistsbillofrights

We have the right to feel safe and comfortable enough to bike with our most precious cargo. @Right2Bike #bike #bikes #cycle #cycling #right2bike #bikingwithkids #doggo #bikesafe #bikenyc

The imagery used for cycling typically paints it as an intense and sweaty activity meant for recreation or sport. This narrative needs to change. Normalizing cycling starts with portraying cyclists not as ‘cyclists’, but as PEOPLE ON BIKES. @Right2Bike #cyclechic #bikepretty

For all the good cyclists do for society by riding, we have the right to be genuinely considered and accommodated in plans and policies. This is not just about the 5% of people currently cycling, but the 100% of people that will benefit from cycling’s impacts. @Right2Bike #bike

Bike parking is as integral a part of bike infra as the bike lanes themselves. Cities need more innovative thinkers, like the team behind @ooneepod. This NYC company builds pods that offer secure bike parking while also enhancing the surrounding public space. @Right2Bike

CBoR #5: Cyclists have the right to well-maintained infrastructure that is free of obstacles like parked cars or loading trucks. For this one we are throwing it back to the @caseyneistat video from 2011, because well… not much has changed. @Right2Bike youtube.com/watch?v=bzE-IMae…
