Today, we're announcing the latest chapter of our partnership with
@GM. Redwood will deploy 1.5 MW / 7.2 MWh of dispatchable energy storage at a GM manufacturing facility in Michigan, built from ~100 repurposed GM battery packs.
The U.S. holds a massive and growing stockpile of domestic battery assets. The question is whether those batteries stay here as American energy infrastructure or whether that value leaves the country. With this deployment, GM and Redwood are proving it can stay here.
This makes GM the first automaker to partner with Redwood across every stage of the battery lifecycle. Redwood already recycles manufacturing scrap from
@UltiumCells, GM's battery joint venture with LG Energy Solution, and receives GM EV packs for repurposing or recycling. This deployment puts those same packs back to work on the manufacturing floor. American-made batteries powering American industry, with critical minerals kept in domestic supply chains.
The full battery lifecycle managed domestically. From the manufacturing line to the road to the grid.
