In Washington, we talk a lot about metrics. But are we measuring the right things? Last week, I asked Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz a simple question: how do we best measure progress in forest health and resilience? We can count acres treated, dollars spent, or board feet harvested . . . those metrics matter. But the real goal is healthier forests, greater resilience, and safer communities. Good policy starts with defining success clearly. If we don’t know what outcome we’re trying to achieve, it’s hard to know whether we’re making progress. With another challenging wildfire season ahead in #CO03, that’s a conversation worth having.

A quick update from the airport heading home to #CO03. This week, the House passed two more bills I introduced. That’s progress on issues ranging from water and public lands to energy and infrastructure. The details matter, but the approach is simple: listen carefully, work hard, and keep moving solutions forward. Now on to the Senate.

A scam that hurts rural Arizonans.

It was great to have @SecretaryWright & @SecretaryBurgum in CA to see the consequences of Gavin Newsom's failed energy policies firsthand. While the Trump Admin is fighting to make America energy secure, Gavin Newsom is making CA dependent on foreign oil. Thank you to Secretaries Wright and Burgum for standing with CA’s energy producers and shining a spotlight on this crisis. It’s time to put affordability, reliability, and energy security back at the center of CA’s energy future.

Our public lands should never be subjected to rushed budget negotiations—that’s the wrong approach for #AZ06. The Public Lands Integrity Act ensures decisions impacting our public lands are made transparently, through regular order, and with FULL public input.  Future generations of Arizonans deserve the opportunity to enjoy the same natural beauty that makes Arizona - and our nation - so special. 🌵

Great to be in Willcox this morning for the 115th Annual Meeting of the Cochise-Graham Cattle Growers Association. These farmers and producers play a vital role in supporting AZ’s entire agricultural community and our five C’s. I’m thankful for all they do across #AZ06. 🐄🌵🇺🇸

Proud to have passed legislation out of the House providing emergency contracting authorities for recovery efforts from both fires. Rural Arizona matters. #AZ02

I met with city officials in Ruthton to discuss their sewer and water improvement project. I was able to help them secure $750,000 towards a water tower replacement, and after a hard-fought process pursuing bonding and grants, they have a plan to connect to Rural Water. This move will save taxpayers roughly $5 million. Proud of this local leadership!

It was great to get an update from local USDA FSA staff. They work face-to-face with operations spanning up to four generations. Our farmers deserve a system that works for them, which is why I support expanding training and resources to help folks navigate FSA applications and payment programs smoothly.
