Today is a big day! 🎉 We’re launching OneClick Opt-in, the world’s first typeless popup! We built it on top of our proprietary Audience Network allowing customers to subscribe to email SMS with a single click. With Recart’s OneClick Opt-in, brands convert 2-5x more visitors into email and SMS subscribers than standard popups. It’s magical. I want you all to experience it -- Demo link in the comments! 1️⃣ How does it work? Think of OneClick Opt-in as the pop-up version of one-click checkout, like Shop Pay. 👉 Customers choose to save their contact details on a Recart popup. 👉 Using the Audience Network, we recognize them when they see a Recart popup on another brand. 👉 Recart pre-fills their email and SMS fields, making signup a one-click process. If a customer has already subscribed to Simple Modern, when she visits KURU Footwear for the first time, OneClick Opt-in lets her join instantly—no typing needed. 2️⃣ Why does it matter? While DTC brands increasingly depend on email and SMS for revenue, popups haven't gotten a meaningful upgrade in the past 10 years. The average popup only converts about 3.6% of your visitors into email and SMS subscribers. We’re still making our customers type their email and phone, then verify through the Messages app — over and over again. The rapidly declining conversion rates make it clear: Customers want a better experience. As retention revenue became critical for DTC brands, they invest more and more into these channels. Our analysis ran on hundreds of top brands tell us clearly: The single biggest indicator of email & SMS success is list growth. This is why we built OneClick Opt-in. When you 2-5x your list growth rates, the revenue from your email and SMS marketing skyrockets, too. 4️⃣ How can you try it? (Mobile-only) Demo is in the comments! Also - our waitlist is now open! Secure your spot for up to 5x faster list growth -- link in comments!

5 (uncomfortable) truths about profitable growth what to do … From @graceclarke. Why Grace? Fractional CMO pedigree across brands like: - @byloftie - @jonesroadbeauty - @getgraza - @Target, @Google, et. al. … in less than 5 mins. Let’s go ↓ 1️⃣ Accept that acquisition is your growth lever 2️⃣ Great marketing cannot save a bad product 3️⃣ Give your data what it’s begging for: attention 4️⃣ Advocates (not spenders) = purchase volume 5️⃣ AI is your friend, project manager & developer BONUS 🤓 “One more. You get one more!” Build a whole marketing flywheel. —— Everything is marketing. You can always get more out of your efforts. You need to be thinking about who comes in and how that customer brings you more customers. Understand that they’re going to be on Reddit. They’re not necessarily going to be Amazon reviews. They’re going to be texting people. They’re going to be showing up at events. Find unexpected ways … Whether you’re Crown Affair, and you’re launching a product in Sephora — you’re seeding it to customers two months in advance to build enthusiasm. Or you are Hoka getting off the ground, and you are sponsoring small regional runs. Or you are Graza Olive Oil, and you are making sure every single piece of content has another brand or creator attached to it. You need to be doing a lot more, more effectively, and building your network. —— Mic. F******. Drop.

DTC grew 400% for us this year. Our tech stack was a big reason. These are our partners and why you should consider using them: Shopify Development: @thevaangroup, lead by @x_armand Our redesigned website went live in September. Conversion rate & brand experience were a focus. Both have improved. They're the highest caliber development agency we've worked with. I'd recommend Vaan to anyone, we've recently signed a retainer with them. Appreciate the referral @jasonpanzer. Customer Support AI: @siena_ai by @lisapopovici & @andreinegrau 62%! of our customer support has been automated with Siena. Countless interactions have complemented our AI for the level of service. It's commonly mistaken for a human and gets reviewed as well as human agents. SMS: @recartapp by @aaronorendorff Our SMS onsite capture was 1.8% with Klaviyo... 5.8% with Recart! SMS list has grown 38% since 10/1 ( 81k subs). Recart is our 3rd largest sales channel since 10/1 (Behind Google and Direct). They have the technology and give hands on support to drive growth through SMS. Mail: @getpostpilot by @drewsanocki & @mepstein311 Post Pilot is THE platform for Shopify mail campaigns. We get a 7 ROAS on mailers and can deliver to customers not on our e-mail lists. On top of driving revenue, they give a great brand impression. x.com/jbryanporter/status/17… Mobile App: @tapcart_app We launched 3 weeks ago. Since, we've driven 16k installs and $250k in revenue so far. Our strategy is to provide easier shopping and early access to limited edition product on the app. So far it has been a huge success. A great video on our launch: twitter.com/tapcart_app/stat… DTC Growth: @andrewjfaris Andrew helped form the foundation for how we think about DTC ads. We've been able to scale Meta ads this year in large part because of Andrew. We'd recommend Andrew to any brand needing to take DTC to the next level. Site Speed: @edgemeshinc Edge Mesh has provided a significant boost in site speed. Their service caches our content every 15 minutes and has significantly increased our page load times. Additionally, we use: Customer Support: @Zendesk Search: @algolia Reviews: @getokendo We're VERY slow to outsource, but highly recommend these DTC partners. We've grown 400% this year in DTC and couldn't have done it without: @thevaangroup @siena_ai @recartapp @getpostpilot @tapcart_app @edgemeshinc @Zendesk @algolia @getokendo

Over the last 10 years, I've worked with every major SMS provider and 20 brands — like Bath & Body Works, Molecule Mattress, and Vinyl Me, Please. I'm going to say it. I think @Recartapp is the best thing to happen to SMS since well... SMS. Why? They've built a platform that is solving real problems for marketers. They've got 5 features I haven't seen anywhere else, and I don't think they are getting enough credit. Let's break them down 👇 1⃣ AI-powered personalization at scale, segmented by customer lifecycle and tailored to your brand (without losing that human touch). No, this isn't just another GPT wrapper. Yes, you can input campaign concepts and it will generate copy for you BUT it will also use guardrails for tone of voice and 'use' / 'do not use' words to ensure every message is on-brand from the start. It goes a step further by automatically creating UNIQUE campaigns for 5-10 of your top segments to truly tailor every message based on what lifecycle stage a customer is in. New subscribers will receive a different message (optimized for length) from VIPs or lapsed customers who may need a more personal touch. Segmentation AND personalization at scale?! Say less. 2⃣ Send messages when subscribers are most likely to buy. While some platforms have optimized send times based on historic click data, Recart takes things a step further by optimizing for when customers are most likely to smash that buy button. And yes, it still respects quiet hours. Smart and compliant? Sign me up. 3⃣ Automate follow-ups to those that clicked, but didn't purchase. This is my favorite. Stop wasting money on batch and blast campaigns and resends to folks who don't engage. You can increase efficiency and profitability by ONLY following up with folks who clicked but didn't buy to nudge them over the conversion finish line. Send less, make more. Simple. 4⃣ Take subscribers back to the page they opted in on. Recart calls these "restore links" but you can think of them like dynamic deep links for PDPs that ensure your subscriber is sent back to the page that got them to opt-in in the first place. 5⃣ True cost and ROI transparency. Look, I love the sexy ROI numbers associated with SMS more than most. But no other platform exposes how that is calculated, or better yet, what a campaign ACTUALLY costs to send. Not credits, actual spend. Recart shows you the actual cost upfront and uses that in the ROI calculation so there is no confusion (or bullsh*t) in how your attributed revenue was calculated. And, it's all attributed to direct SMS clicks, none of that "view" or "open" nonsense.

If you do nothing else this week, do this. Back when I was running my own ecommerce stores, we'd turn it into a drinking game. Make it all the way through and buy sober - you win. Don't? Even better. That puts you right into the eggnog-sloshed shoes of real shoppers for the real deal. Here's how @lovevalgeisler said it at our @Recartapp & @CommnThreadCo's Black Friday panel a few weeks ago: "We all do these like tests. Don't test. Do it for real."

Gross margin is pretty poorly understood. Gross Margin is defined by accounting classification not cost behavior. Cost behavior is way more important to understand unit economics, and P&L sensitivities. Also definition of gross margin is often not consistent between businesses. I’ve worked for different businesses in the same industry (and similar unit economics) with totally different GM definitions: - Treatment of different strips of fixed cost - Allocation of labor - Overhead absorption policy To name just a few. Can result in wildly different gross margin definitions for similar businesses. Result: Gross Margin is NOT as useful as people think. If you can get to a Contribution Margin calc, thats a much better basis for analysis. Challenge is that it’s harder to get to from the outside. Yet another example where accounting standards make lives harder for investors.

One huge mistake that many managers make is to tell a senior member of their team: “<XYZ> is entirely your decision. I am here to serve you. I will defer to whatever your decision is here.” This happens at all levels e.g. a Founder/CEO delegating “product strategy” to the CPO.
