OFFSHORE WIND NOISE POLLUTION
Atlantic Shores onshore noise impact, dBA re 20uPA, average levels.
Computed in Python for 200 wind turbines, conservative Swedish propagation model for offshore wind turbines over hard surface, kml export to Google Earth.
Average noise levels are estimated at 47 dBA at the nearest point onshore. Wind turbine noise fluctuations have been documented by the wind industry at 6-11 dB over the average*. Fluctuating sound pressure levels can be expected to exceed the NJ night noise limit of 50 dBA within range of the 40 dBA contour, and definitely within the 45 dBA contour.
