The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025 came into effect recently. Allowing your dog to chase, run at, or cause distress to livestock is now a serious offence. Can anyone explain why the Government, couldn't simply bring in a law that provided the same protection to wild mammals. It would end illegal hunting within months.

They know this, you know this, we know this. Everyone knows this. They care about the hounds only in so far as how good they are at hunting their quarry. They are bred into existence, and then blown out of it when they become surplus to requirements. Hounds are trained on the whip, and they quickly learn to fear the whip. They are hit, beaten and whipped when they go wrong during a hunt. They claim to 'love their hounds'. Whatever this is, this is not 'love'. Wildlife are not the only victims of hunting. A Portman Hunt steward was bemused at the sight of the supposed "trail layer"! He informed him he was dragging something, to which the man replied - "should be yeah, it's "the trail"!' *wink* 🙄 Oh dear. @DorsetMonitor

We've posted numerous videos of the Portman hounds chasing deer this season. They've already savaged and killed two deer and there are clearly rogue hounds in the pack. Hunt staff Marshall and Marles have zero control over them. Video will be shown tomorrow of Marshall battering a hound with a whip handle.
