Receiving the Princess of Asturias Award tonight fulfills me with honor, as it’s an acknowledgement for something that I’ve believed in thoroughly throughout my career. To some, running is simply an act of physical movement. But ever since I started running as a young boy in Kapsabet, Kenya, I knew running meant something much greater than that. Running is not just physical movement. Running is a vehicle that has the power to unite us. We can only achieve greatness if we fully believe that there is nothing holding us back. There are no limits, just what our mind tricks us to believe. So, I urge to you see the world this way. To see the world without limits and to see all that is possible. A running world is a happy world. A running world is a united world. Muchas gracias.

Huber's book on causal analysis breaks down hard-to-understand topics in a way that is easy to grasp. IMO suitable for undergraduate & postgraduate students. So far, I've read the chapters on instrumental variables and selection on observables, amazingly clear & with R examples

Couple of additional important take away from the JPM Conference: 1) $CRSP is the first company in the world to dose patients with edited stem cell derived products, in their T1D program. 2) Some of the early research they are doing, according to @CrisprSam, is mind blowing: a) organ specific expression of peptides or proteins in response to metabolic circuits. b) Epigenetic editing to tune down expression or tune down production vs shutting it off c) Can do both short and long correction. Next set of applications will come out in the next 2-3 years.....

On May 27 1963, Kenyatta, Kibaki, and Mboya leapt for joy as the results of the election came in. Africans had finally taken over government. Madaraka remains because it reminds us of that first taste of running the state ourselves.
