ALT What is prorogation?

ALT Prorogation is the end of the current session of Parliament. The governor general announces the prorogation, based on the advice of the prime minister.

ALT During prorogation, both the Senate and the House of Commons cease their sittings, and most committee work stops.

ALT All bills that were being studied or debated are dropped and cease to exist unless they are reintroduced in the next session.

The Tribunal is now dismissing hundreds of discrimination cases every year based on its new and questionable interpretation of the scope of its jurisdiction.
