The situation in Herat and the surrounding region has worsened due to the cold and snowy winter, that was being hit by tens of EQs. >2000 houses in 20 villages have been destroyed, leaving many homeless. To add to the problem, there is a bad wind causing dunes to appear everywhre

A cold & wet winter is a head of #Afghanistan. Multiple transportation routes will be blocked due to the snow. Unfortunately, the #HeratEarthquake made many homeless & increased the number of those in need. Food supplies should be delivered & distributed prior to the roadblocks.

The Pacific coast of #Mexico has been affected by #tsunamis 🌊, which are triggered by local and remote earthquakes, as well as local submarine landslides (e.g. Cuyutlan, Colima), and remote volcanic eruptions (e.g. Tonga Volcano). 🧵
Tsunamis kill more people than any other sudden onset natural hazard.
Most are caused by seismic activity, like earthquakes under or near the ocean, but they can also result from landslides or volcanoes.

After analyzing the anaglyph, I found that there is an offset of approximately 5.5 km along the southern region of the Hari Rud River.

This area is where we can see the most recent deformation along the fault. East of the Herat City, towards ChaghCharn where the Manirate of Jam is situated, the Herat fault system is mostly found in bedrock, and it causes a systematic offset of stream channels in the terrain.
