Building housing is not gentrification. It's a way to house the unhoused, and it brings rents down across the city. We need to solve the supply shortage if we have any hope of making cities more affordable.
Instead of 915 housing units of which half were affordable, this mixed use project in Harlem was denied by Councilwoman @Kristin4Harlem for fears of gentrification. It will now become a “truck stop for big rigs” in a neighborhood with some of the worst asthma rates in the city.
