If you think Skill based matchmaking is bad, just wait until you learn about Engagement Based Matchmaking.
Skill based matchmaking has made gaming significantly less fun and gives teens personality disorders by teaching them the only point of a hobby or a game is to win and be the best at it

It is a rare person who actually understands what roleplaying is and how it's orthogonal to systems and mechanics, not resultant from them. One can (and should) Roleplay in any game. What makes a Roleplaying Game different is that its mechanics enable and reinforce roleplay.
I played minecraft with someone and they were running low on the hunger bar. so naturally youd think they would go eat, right? They jumped off their OWN house to respawn and regain their hunger. "It was faster that way" That shit was my canon event, and is why i value immersion and semi-roleplay so much in games. I have never had my minecraft urge punched out of me so fast

Overheard at a pub in Ashville: "I wish this place had an actual park. Not just that tiny green space that there's always youngins running around screaming at" Lady, what do you think parks are for? Why do people hate children merely existing?

I am Phantom Hourglass's top guy. I have yet to find another game that balances rewarding exploration while still having a solid direction. Plus I really enjoyed the central gimmick of returning to the Temple. Most people find it tedious, but for me, it was peak.

I think have at least two controversial placements in my top 5 Zelda games. 1. Phantom Hourglass 2. Twilight Princess 2. Link's Awakening DX 3. Oracle of Ages 4. Ocarina of Time 5. Skyward Sword

DM: "You're sheet says evil, you understand this is a cooperative game and you aren't allowed to screw over the other players?" Player: "Totally understand" Then you play D&D and it's fine. You don't have to mangle the game into a half-assed diplomacy session.

The problem is PVP sucks in D&D. There's plenty of ways to play an evil character and not screw over the party. A player who wants the (dubious) benefits of PVP, but not the downsides is a jerk and you should simply kick them.

There are exactly two solutions for this. 1.) Stop doing theater kid RP and just use third person action verbs and reaction rolls. 2.) Continue using theater kid RP which the DM secretly grades and adds a hidden modifier to your rolls based on how good it is.
Dice in DND is asking the universe for an impartial decision to inject spontaneity into a scenario neither player nor DM can predict. The mental cost of a bad role after great RP feels like a punishment, and the table now has to react to a number rather than the narrative.

If we were a serious country posting this sign outside a business would be punishable by tar and feathering.

I do not heed such signs, for it is not given to merchants to lay demands upon knights.

Here is the final version. Sat down and took another 4 hour pass on it. Compass now is North. Banner is a bit smaller. The details (trees) were erased and enlarged and redone. Made the Icons on the map a bit bolder...and increased the size a little...oh and I did a tiny bit of saturation changes in the mountain area. Thanks for all you comments and suggestions! This was really fun to draw with @MapEffects brushes. - Working on a time lapse video for tomorrow. Just need to make the music for it. Well have a great night all. Enjoy!

I'm A/B testing with this module. Released it in 5E, now I'm releasing a Shadowdark version. Seeing the difference... it's taking a bit of effort because I'm making a new class, so there's actually some design work differences.

Somehow they managed this without Anthropic or OpenAI. Curious.
In 1996, Microsoft made a chatroom that turned your conversations into comic strips. It was called Microsoft Comic Chat. Instead of a normal text box, your messages appeared as speech bubbles over weird little black-and-white characters. The program would automatically pick poses, facial expressions, panels, and layouts. So you could be arguing with strangers online, but it looked like a newspaper comic drawn by someone having a breakdown. For a few years, the future of online chat looked like this.

Many complain "She's wearing makeup! Unrealistic!" Many retort "Yeah well they had make up back then so that's accurate." I don't think we should validate bad-faith whinging about her "wearing makeup" at all. Those people are just mad you can't be gay in the game and that she doesn't have vitiligo or something so they're attacking the game on grounds of "historical accuracy." She likely isn't wearing makeup, she's probably just a 3d model with light stylization where natural blemishes and discoloration were omitted in the same way a painter like John William Waterhouse would. This doesn't have to be justified any more than giving a warrior of mythic pre-history the build of a roided out 80's bodybuilder. Conan didn't use testosterone enanthate and she isn't wearing lashes.
