The CRTC streaming decision is a mess of the government's own making. For years, it proceeded as if "make web giants pay" would have no repercussions on trade relationships and consumer costs. Now the bill is coming due. michaelgeist.ca/2026/05/the-… x.com/USAmbCanada/status/205…
CRTC’s decision to triple the tax rate on leading streaming services is making a bad situation worse. CRTC is targeting and taxing U.S. companies, putting up new, discriminatory trade barriers, and worsening the investment climate for American businesses.

Got my Rush tickets for Friday night on the main floor. Row 3. I cannot believe how expensive tickets are. From their R40 tour to now, they went up from $200 to $900 in a decade.

I believe Ian Lee hits it home in this clip. If they watch it. x.com/kpac_15/status/1896838…

Ian Lee at Carleton Uni schooling CBC viewers of retaliatory tariffs. ‘They’re going to be very destructive for 🇨🇦. 100 billion 🇨🇦 dollars on a 25-30 trillion dollar 🇺🇸 economy is like finding a loonie on the sidewalk and thinking you’ve made it rich.’

Tobi Lütke (@tobi) is one of the most real, inspiring, and first-principled thinkers I've ever met. He also operates Shopify very different from other companies at this scale: — The product roadmap is driven by intuition, taste, and a 100-year vision — KPIs are banned on their core product teams — They're fully remote (and plan to stay that way) — They randomly delete all recurring meetings — He encourages teams to approach *every* problem from first-principles In our conversation, we discuss: 🔸 What Tobi believes it takes to be a great product leader 🔸 How Tobi specifically tackles problems from first principles 🔸 Tobi's approach to developing a 100-year vision 🔸 How he leveraged his unique talent stack 🔸 The importance of focusing on joy and delight 🔸 Why complexity kills entrepreneurship 🔸 The power of following your curiosity 🔸 Much more Listen now 👇 • YouTube: youtu.be/tq6vdDJQXvs • Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/6Hy… • Apple: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas… Thank you to our wonderful sponsors for supporting the podcast: 🏆 @wearesinch — Build messaging, email, and calling into your product: sinch.com/lenny 🏆 @liveblocks — Ready-made collaborative features to drop into your product: liveblocks.io/lenny 🏆 @loom — The easiest screen recorder you’ll ever use: loom.com/lenny

After Adobe Flex was killed off due to Flash Player being essentially forbidden by Apple a void for Enterprise SPA frameworks emerged. That void was filled by Angular (NG). I am still using it today in my architectures for my fortune 500. Now a film is coming out on NG. Stoked!

We need to build things, make and export products, and embrace AI to get productivity up. No other way to maintain standard of living.

In the last interview of his life (1996), astronomer Carl Sagan gave an eerily prescient warning of the dangers that come when you cannot ask skeptical scientific questions of those in authority. Watch and ask yourself: was he right?

Clip of my opening statement yesterday at the Industry committee on Bill C-27, the privacy/AI bill. Policy choices today will last decades and we need to recognize that the privacy field is already tilted against individual Canadians.

Ok, want to get a job in tech? Go to a tech meetup this week in your community. Be engaged, ask questions and talk to the elders there. They are principal engineers, architects and can make hiring decisions. More than 50% of our hiring is done via referrals, not a dump filter.
This is exactly why applying for jobs online is one of the worst ways to get a job in tech - especially a remote one. How can you even be noticed among a pile of 5806 resumes? Nearly impossible, and even Elon Musk’s resume wouldn’t be noticed.

Forking a project to get a repo filled is dumb. One tweak and CSS changes to someone else's project is a giveaway. Tbh, code PR reviews are better than in-office code tests. Who codes well with a stranger looking on? I want to pay you to think, not to push keys.
