Saw another startup with a completely shot cap table, which happens regularly in the UK and France.
Management sub 10% for a business that just broke $1M ARR.
We'd never, ever fund this without founders and team owning *at the very least* 30-50%.
--> Clean up pre-funding.

Don't trust your eyes. These are not sea creatures but glass sculptures by 19th century father-and-son glassworkers Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka. The duo didn't teach anyone their techniques and when the son died, so did that knowledge.

Highlight the benefits to the individual, not the company. Tell me as an employee how it’s going to improve my job, not the KPI’s of the company. Then when I do my job better, the company will succeed. Reach me personally, and make me the best employee I can be.

A team of great engineers regularly shipping code is a form of compounding (ie “the most powerful force in the universe”). This is a major reason startups beat big companies. If it gets broken, your startup is toast. Avoid the excuses, they’re never valid. Just keep shipping.

PR can seem stupid sometimes but boy, if you are really good at it:
- it helps a lot with fundraising
- it helps a lot with recruiting
- it helps partners decide to pick you to work with
- it gets the team excited
But only if done well. And consistently.
