You are far more dangerous to your startup than competitors are. A hundred times more startups die from poor execution by their founders than are killed by competitors.

Nothing like a solid customer testimonial. Nice work @SFPD
One of the most prolific criminals in all of San Francisco tells @adam22 that “crime in San Francisco is over with” because of Flock cameras drones. He complains that he can’t even do drivebys anymore. It’s simple: when the risk of getting caught is too high, crime plummets.

Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write. This is the article: volkskrant.nl/kijkverder/v/2…

New in-home robotics form factor just dropped
A robot arm basically has a rocket equation problem. Each motor closer to the root must support the weight of all the ones above it. An advantage of cable robots is that the motors don’t have to be on the moving part. In a CDPR you can place all the main motors on the wall, and they can all be the same part with the same torque. You don’t even have to place one in each corner. In theory you could have a cable robot in every room in your house and put all the motors in the basement with the lines passing through PTFE tubes in the walls. In Stringman, each anchor has a pair of motors, one direct, and one indirect, routed though a ceramic fishing eyelet in another corner. Consolidating the motors into fewer components drives the cost down, but two camera angles still gives a good view of the room. The spool motors are Damiao direct drive actuators (DM-H6215). And unlike an arm, they’re all sharing the load, so they can be one of the smaller models, and having no reducer keeps the noise to a minimum. If you want a cable robot in every room in your house by the way, I’m your guy. neufangled.com

Do people not realize insurance is the most dogshit growth business? Companies like this do not exist to insure; they exist to extract value from risk hedging — have fun getting paid for your claim.
The Origins of Corgi Cafe: "A huge problem with San Francisco is that everything closes really early. There are lots of startups that want to push themselves hard, but you can’t even find a cafe or a place to eat after 6:00 or 7:00 PM. It’s a ridiculous situation, clearly most restaurants don’t have a growth mindset." @nico_laqua Love to hear your thoughts on this @levelsio @davidu @jason @dhh

It’s bread and circuses, and decadence for the ruling class paid for by the working class and foreign lobbies. If history teaches us anything, we know what comes next.
