The Harlem Children's Zone-an NYC NGO with over $1,000,000,000 in assets-lobbied the Colorado legislature to pass the law. The HCZ-inspired law derives from Obama’s 2008 Promise Neighborhoods Initiative, a program with no track record of success.
Geoffrey Canada, the HCZ president paid roughly $1M annually, attended the signing as @GovofCO special guest.

I signed two new laws to help strengthen education for every Colorado student.
The Harlem Children’s Zone is helping students and communities break through poverty and fulfill potential. SB26-080 Cradle to Career Grant Program Creation opens similar opportunities here in Colorado, helping ensure students have the support and resources to thrive inside and outside of the classroom.
SB26-170 Task Force to Expand Effective Public Schools focuses on increasing student achievement by looking at successful efforts across district schools, innovation schools, and charter schools and expanding access to opportunity for all students.

The Colorado House is scheduled to approve SB26-080 today--a bill which codifies an Obama-era program into law and severs the parent/child relationship by inserting state-control over children's lives.
The final vote has been enabled solely by actions of Republicans @AvaFlanell_ @SenSimpsonCO and Rick Taggart.
☑️Simpson sponsored the big-government bill
☑️Flanell's "yes" vote enabled passage out of the House Education Committee. A "no" vote would have 🛑stopped the bill.
☑️Taggart revived the bill by requesting for 080 to be reconsidered by the House Appropriations Committee on 5/12 stating, "I made a mistake yesterday" by voting against the bill.
