IMO sth that is a bit overlooked but will become far more important in the future. GPT is 10-20x more token cost effective for ~similar outcome.
Day 3 with Fable. Gave a huge prompt to implement a feature across CLI, web server, and another server to both Fable and deep^2 in Amp. deep^2 was done before I went to the gym. It stopped short. Sent another prompt. $20. Fable ran for 1hr40min and cost $350. Results: They both understood the assignment and built the same thing. Maybe that's due to my prompt. Fable's worked on first try. Well done. Deep's looks correct but didn't work on first try. $20 vs. $350. I'm sure I could get deep^2 to make it work and we'd end up at, what, $40? While Fable is now at $457 after I asked some follow-up questions.

Two browser updates for today's Thursday Codex drop: Dev Mode faster browser use. 1/ Dev Mode Now, you can give full CDP (Chrome DevTools Protocol) access to your Codex agent so it can be more helpful in deep developer workflows. By turning this on, your agent will be able to inspect: - runtime errors & console log - network requests, responses & failures - live DOM, storage, and page state This is really helpful for debugging gnarly bugs and making your apps more performant. To try it, go to your codex settings, and search developer mode to toggle it on! 2/Browser Use Perf improvements Using Codex to drive your browser should feel much faster after this week's update, up to 2x in many cases! We made the plugin a lot more efficient, and truncated a lot of redundant text in the skill. Let us know what you think!

The new speech-to-text transcription model in iOS 27 supposedly handles multiple languages, and I have it configured with English and Spanish, but it is completely unusable. If I speak Spanish, it will correctly transcribe half a sentence, but then hallucinate English words for the other half. How can Apple still be so far behind despite the two-year Apple Intelligence delay?? There are PLENTY of iOS apps with perfect, cheap, fast, local STT models. I genuinely do not understand what's going on in Cupertino.

Not to mention how (at least as of Beta 1) the new Siri still doesn’t feel like you’re talking to an LLM AT ALL and it will consistently fail to perform the most basic home automation tasks like turning on one light and opening a blind in one request. I had an email open with a phone number, and I asked it to dial the phone number in the email, and it failed because it said it couldn’t find the email.

In the latest Codex Mobile update, the composer now displays plugins and skills inline, just like the desktop app! So you can chain them and write your prompts more naturally.

.@satyanadella just put the whole "water" debate to rest. Datacenters run on a closed loop cooling system, the water usage of a datacenter for an entire year is roughly equivalent to a usage of 1 restaurant!

you dont have to believe in existential risk or job loss for this to be scary: ai is real, you can replicate human thought in machines. it is redefining what it means to be human. even if they are strictly corrigible tools that do what we ask, this can be traumatic
