The specialty of #CriticalCare has achieved important advances in survival for many patients with the most complex disorders. Along with these advances, however, there has been an increasing awareness of the complicated and persistent morbidity that follows critical illness. 1/10

The full WHO living guideline which includes recommendations on corticosteroids, remdesivir, hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir and now ivermectin, available here: who.int/publications/i/item/… And here: bmj.com/content/370/bmj.m337…

WHO advises that ivermectin only be used to treat #COVID19 within clinical trials until more data is available, as the current evidence on the use of the treatment is inconclusive bit.ly/3rDN046

ICU = 911 for the hospital. We should embrace it. Ask, “how can I help?” Sometimes the answer I’d admit to ICU, sometimes not, but we can always be helpful, kind, and point our colleagues and learners in the right direction.
Working in the ICU is fun for many reasons -- this is one of my favorites.
