The lack of cap space is why Horvat is gone is a myth. They got Hronek $4.4M and Beauvillier at $4.1M ($8.5M) instead of paying Horvat $8M and adding a league minimum player at $700k. If Boo Horvat really wanted to stay, or if they wanted to keep him, he'd still be here.

Horvat and his 10 points as a No#1 center for the Islanders, getting top minutes on the power play, would be 6th in scoring on the current Canucks, while he's 2nd in scoring for the Islanders. Glad they're paying his $8.5M salary and not the Canucks.

So we now live in a hockey day and age where a random defenceman mid season, can demand a trade. How entitled. If this happened to Brian Burke or Pat Quinn... the player would be benched or kicked off the team. The inmates don't run the asylum as @Burkie2020 would say.

The Canucks got a proven NHL backup with a .912 career save percentage who can play 30 games to relieve Demko, for a 3rd round pick. And oh yeah.... they were also able to get rid of an injury prone 4th line Pearson who scored one goal last year, and his hefty contract.
