Open source. Self-custodial. Uncompromising on security. These aren't just Shell's values, they're the values that keep Ethereum running. Honored that @ProtocolGuild members will carry a Shell. We don't take that lightly.
Protocol Guild is excited to announce that all members will receive complimentary @Keycard_ Shell hardware wallets The tools they rely on should reflect the same values they bring to their work: open source, self-custodial, and uncompromising on security

Air-gapped wallet = your signing device never touches your computer. Not even for a second. Here's why that distinction matters more than most people realize ๐Ÿ‘‡

This is going to be a great one! Put it in your calendars! We can't wait to chat about: - open source self custody - clear signing - @safe UI - and overall .... how two cool projects created a great UI for power users ๐Ÿ˜Š
We'll host @glgrau from @Keycard_ and put the wallets to the test. Live stream on Wednesday, 1:00 PM UTC on @ambire.

You should have a family friend that is technical enough to understand how to use a wallet in case you need it, and for the backups I like the idea of keycards more and more - where you don't have multiple plain text seeds but cards that are pin protected like @Keycard_.

Had a look at the @Keycard_ Shell. Great option to split hardware in such a way as to remove vendor trust. (Works great with DIY flashed Javacard) youtu.be/5NPP4c0D2FM Core functionally of my @SeedSigner fork (Shieldsigner) but available to normal folk as a retail offering :)

can you do that with your hardware wallet? who will build the best @keycard_ shell now ๐Ÿ˜œ?
The cool thing about open source hardware is that you can make it your own ๐Ÿ‘‡ I took @keycard_ shell 3d parts on github, ordered some ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธpink parts on shapeways and assembled them without a hitch

Ledger Recover taught us something important: When your keys and your device are inseparable, you're trusting the manufacturer forever. Modular wallets separate the secure element from the hardware. Shell breaks? Swap it. Keys stay put. Great breakdown on this worth reading๐Ÿ‘‡

Listen to Dankrad and use a hardware wallet
Are passkeys actually like a hardware wallet built into your phone? I'm afraid not (They are still pretty useful for quickly creating hot wallets) dankradfeist.de/blockchain/2โ€ฆ

"{there's no other hardware wallet as true-to-ethos, cypherpunk, and self-sovereign as the Keycard Shell."
the @Keycard_ Shell understood the assignment. because it's not about the looks or the cool factor. it's about the mission. and there's no other hardware wallet as true-to-ethos, cypherpunk, and self-sovereign as the Keycard Shell. my full review ๐Ÿ‘‡ 1/

The remaining problem is coverage. If a protocol has not published an ERC-7730 descriptor yet, you are back to blind signing. ERC-8213 is the bridge while that coverage grows. Major wallets are already on board. @Keycard_ is the first hardware wallet with ERC-8213 support.

Glad to have @Keycard_ mentioned in this @iptf_updates disbursement protocol! It's not bringing "extra security": the hardware component is what makes the privacy claim hold.
New writeup: Resilient Disbursement Rails. Aid organizations' beneficiary databases are an operational security risk. IPTF's PoC shows how to run a disbursement program where no participant, at any step, holds a complete list of recipients.

The on-card secret is why a seized beneficiary registry can't be used to identify recipients of past claims. Without hardware custody, the whole construction unravels.

A second consequence: the companion device handing out aid in the field can be untrusted. The card builds the signed message internally, so a compromised companion can't trick it into signing over a substituted key.

I have demoed @Keycard_ at @ETHCluj to a few people today - all of them impressed, few asked if they can order it today
Kudos to @glgrau You can count on @Keycard_ hardware wallet team to move fast when it comes to improving the security and usability for keycard shell users! โฑ๏ธ
