Yes, I think you should. The twitter crisis is a unique chance to build a better community for scientists on #Mastodon without ads and attention-hogging algorithms. #twexitnature.com/articles/d41586-0…
I love the idea of a free, open-source, and ad-free social network for scientists. I have just made a profile for our lab on @mstdn.science and so far it looks great. A nice community is building there right now.
On bioRxiv: Adenylation multispecificity guided us to find broad evolvability of #nonribosomal surfactin synthetase SrfAC. Provides guidelines which enzyme residues have potential for bioengineering #antibiotics. Congrats Aleksa! @LeibnizHKI@SvenssonCarlbit.ly/3LqOJoD
Just my yearly reminder: there is a standard format behind (probably) most published papers. I highly recommend all students look at that format: journals.plos.org/ploscompbi… makes writing easier for my students (and myself)
Did you know that an artwork of Beuys once got mopped up by accident? Indiscriminate cleaning up of biosynthetic intermediates can be a loss or a benefit for engineered #NRPS as shown by Farzaneh&Sayan in ACS Chem Bio. @LeibnizHKI@KriesLab @Hertweck_Lab bit.ly/3B779qX
In our institute, we pursue many different approaches to find new therapeutic agents. One cool way is Biosynthetic Design in @KriesLab and it's probably best we let Hajo Kries explain what that is himself:
Leibniz-HKI researchers from @Hertweck_Lab - in cooperation with @TU_Muenchen - have identified an enzyme that is a promising new therapeutic target to combat dangerous bacterial diseases caused by Burkholderia

Excellent opportunity for a PhD project between @andrecobb and my lab at King's College London: Using photoredox catalysis to manipulate posttranslational modifications! findaphd.com/phds/project/di…
Congrats Jacob Wurlitzer & Markus Gressler! We recorded substrate profiles in this exciting project on fungal #NRPS. Knowing side-activities helped to develop a biosynthetic strategy for fluorophore-labeled peptides. @LeibnizHKI@ChemicalScience@UniJenadoi.org/10.1039/D2SC00860B
We are looking for a Postdoc in Chemical Biology/Protein Semisynthesis to make new 'designer' p53. Please see link for details:

Please share! Our young team of biosynthetic designers @LeibnizHKI (Jena, D) is looking for a postdoc with experience in handling RNA. Thanks to the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation for the Exploration Grant. More info in the job offer below & upon request.
