A team member ordered and paid for a poster to be printed at @officedepot so he could bring it to a vigil for Charlie Kirk tonight in Michigan. When he arrived to pick it up four hours later, the employees said they refused to print it, calling the poster “propaganda.”

Is anyone surprised?

🚨 According to the Detroit News, Michigan Senatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s former staffer is as one of the 8 indicted by the DOJ yesterday on terror-related harassment charges. El-Sayed previously campaigned with a man who said America deserved 9/11.

Looks like the Senate primary won’t be the only knock-down-drag-out for Democrats this year. They’re beating each other up over MI-07 as well.
Calling it a lie doesn’t work when it’s just a video of you speaking. Here’s the clip if folks want to check it out for themselves: x.com/MattMaasdam/status/206…

On cleaning up waste, fraud, & abuse in the budget: "They found $4 million so far... people that are getting Michigan food stamps and spending it out-of-state." This is why we sent bills to the Senate to establish accountability safeguards around SNAP spending.
Speaker Hall on passing legislation to restore the third-grade reading law: "There's got to be some accountability... we have to do more than just spend money."

Months ago, the House Oversight Committee heard testimony on the horrible conditions in Michigan's only women's prison. Fast-forward: three women have died in the past month. Does @GovWhitmer still have "full faith" in Dept of Corrections Director Heidi Washington?
HORRIFIC: The conditions at Huron Valley Women’s Correctional are so bad that an inmate has mold growing in her ears! However, @GovWhitmer has “full faith” in the Dept of Corrections Director Heidi Washington.

This is absolutely horrifying. Violence has no place in our politics. Some leaders in Michigan have been too willing to trade in antisemitic tropes and not willing enough to call out behavior like this.
#BREAKING: A group of eight people linked to the University of Michigan orchestrated a terror campaign to sever Israel ties from the university, according to federal prosecutors. Read more: detne.ws/4vDHrUv

“Three-car pileup” is a great way to describe this Democrat primary. We’re partial to “trainwreck,” but @adamwren’s description is good too.
Scoop in @playbookdc: The @MalloryMcMorrow Yes MI Action Committee is expected to spend a total of $7 million across all platforms before the Aug. 4 primary. politico.com/newsletters/pla…

We should call "gender reassignment" what it actually is: child mutilation. After House Republicans took action to BAN it last week, our bills now sit in the Senate waiting for Democrats to act.
🚨BREAKING🚨 Our bills to ban gender reassignment surgeries for minors have PASSED THE HOUSE. 48 Democrats just voted to keep child mutilation legal in Michigan.

🚨MAJOR WIN for Michigan Families & Businesses🚨 We passed landmark bills today to cut burdensome regulations, get government out of the way, and stop the unelected administrative state from overriding the will of the people. This means lower costs for starting a business, building homes, getting licensed for a job, and attracting new jobs to Michigan. Senate Democrats now have an opportunity to pass real regulatory reform and make Michigan more affordable. @schuette_bill

WOW! Dr. Alveda King hits the nail on the head: “Americans who faithfully donate their hard-earned money […] who sincerely want to combat racism and hatred deserve transparency and accountability about how those funds are being used.” What say you, @JocelynBenson?

So was the SPLC Board doing any oversight at all, @JocelynBenson? Or were you all just cool with your employees dating the neo-Nazis you guys were paying?

Jocelyn Benson has nailed the art of NOT answering questions and lying through her teeth. This week on the MIRS Monday podcast, she said the process for deciding who oversees our universities should be guided by two principles: accountability and transparency. Great. Michigan voters are still waiting for the same from her regarding her position on the board of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Jocelyn Benson, who’s overseeing her own gubernatorial election, says her “role” as an SPLC board member “was mostly ceremonial” and “attending events.” Then why is she stonewalling records requests? The same reason she had to pay a former black employee a $775K taxpayer-funded settlement.

.@JocelynBenson said her role in the SPLC was “mostly ceremonial.” Was she lying then, or was she lying when she campaigned on her experience working for the SPLC?
