NEW: An exhaustive review of roughly 200 flights in Doug Ford’s calendars reveal he essentially stopped flying commercial in late 2025, switching almost entirely to private flights.
Opposition blasted him during question period, but Ford insists he’s better than former premiers
Meta will layoff 8000 of its workforce starting tomorrow morning. Their net income over the last 12 months was $70,587,000,000. They could give every single one of their 79,000 workers a $440,000 bonus and still sock away over $35,827,000,000 in pure profit.
Premier Ford skipped question period today, one day after government documents revealed Ontario taxpayers covered nearly $200K in expenses tied to the purchase & resale of his $28.9M private jet.
The opposition is now demanding he repay the money. #onpoli
NEW: The Ford government tried to quietly close the public feedback period on its new education bill, changing the deadline to submit comments from May 13 to May 4 without notice. They reversed course after we asked why they were limiting public input:

NEW: Government-supervised school board mistakenly distributes email identifying teachers at risk of layoffs, raising serious privacy concerns & prompting Ontario's privacy watchdog to look into the incident. My first official byline with @Thetrilliumca: thetrillium.ca/insider-news/…
If you’re Canadian, you have to see this.
This isn’t just politics — this is real-life stuff.
Senator Kim Pate just introduced Bill S-206 — a new push for Basic Income in Canada.
This matters if you’ve ever felt stuck, burnt out, or like the system doesn’t see people like you.
We already have universal healthcare.
Now imagine a future where we also have income stability.
Watch what happens next — and don’t let this one slide by.

Government now citing fentanyl and online crimes against children as the rationale for including warrantless access to information about Internet subscribers in a bill called the Stronger Borders Act. It’s the same lawful access playbook again and again.

RCMP NL asks residents on Avalon Peninsula to avoid lighting brush fires
After responding to multiple reports of brush fires out of control, RCMP NL asks residents on the Avalon Peninsula to avoid lighting fires today. Conditions are dry.
I’m seeing a long, conservative rant being shared around and it’s got a lot of misinformation in it. Let’s break it down using open data and statistics.
.@PierrePoilievre won't speak to certain journalists, blocks all journalists from his campaign bus and plane, and insists on granting questions to only a friendly few. Plus, he tightly controls the questions that journalists can ask.
@PierrePoilievre says he would grant more access to YouTubers like Candice Malcolm, who famously tried to tie a recent plane crash to DEI efforts, and he spent the most time on a Jordan Peterson podcast sponsored by a pro-life group.
Seriously, this is getting ridiculous.
If you don't believe me, read this G&M article:
"The Liberal campaign provided The Globe with a tally noting that, according to their count, Mr. Carney had been asked 140 questions from media since the election was called, to Mr. Poilievre’s 48. Those figures match a rough count The Globe had compiled independently."
"The reporters covering Mr. Carney, meanwhile, huddle before each press conference to determine who among them gets to ask questions, and in what order, with no involvement from the campaign. They are permitted one question, with a follow-up. The campaign does not screen questions in advance."
"Mr. Poilievre’s campaign has asked some reporters in advance about the subject of their questions....Reporters are permitted to ask only one question of Mr. Poilievre, with no follow-up."
He won't get his security clearance.
He won't speak to the people trying to inform the public about his policies.
He won't let reporters near him on the campaign plane, campaign bus, or at campaign events.
What is he doing/hiding/thinking?

Hi amber, we follow each other and prob both know we have diff views, so asking here in good faith
Judy wasn’t one of the reporters picked to ask him a question, why is it fair for her to shout it out anyways and interrupt another journalist?
On this day in 1935, Newfoundland and Labrador changed its time to 3 1/2 hours W of Greenwich.
This established a unique 30 minute time zone in Canada.
This is the story of Newfoundland's unique time zone (and the double daylight saving time experiment)

ALT The photo shows a blue highway sign indicating a time zone change between the Atlantic Time Zone and the Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Standard Time Zone. The sign features a map highlighting Newfoundland in yellow and Labrador in white, with locations like Black Tickle and L’Anse-au-Clair marked. Text on the sign reads "ADJUST YOUR CLOCK BY ADDING 30 MIN." The background shows a cloudy sky.
I've worked at a poll during a federal election, and I can tell you that our voting system is 100% paper-based. Ballots, tabulation sheets, lists of registered voters, everything. Closest a computer gets is that the voter lists are printed.
I’m not a journalist. I’m an Alberta dad, husband, and trades worker. Over the past few days, I’ve been reading everything I can about the CSIS findings regarding Pierre Poilievre’s compromised position and lack of security clearance. Here’s what I’ve found.

What people think autism is vs What it Might actually be
ALT All slides have a light purple background with black text. All slides have my username @neurodivergent_lou in the bottom left hand corner. Slide 1: text reads - what people think autism is vs what it actually is.
With more folks taking to the sky, I'll be moving more of my regular activity there. Will still be here for a while, as there are some folks that aren't over there yet.

Pike pours Sisko a glass of water.
“So—I uh—know I should hardly be surprised by people appearing in my quarters,” Pike begins. “Especially when your older self from an alternate future pays you a visit, but—why are you here again?”
Sisko grins.
