New paper exploring what determines (in)effective post competition parent-child interactions in youth sport! We also explain what CA is, why conversation analysts don't make ontological or epistemological claims, and how CA papers could/should be judged! 🎥🎾🚘

Publishing costs have quadrupled since 1986. Publishers make insane profits on scholarly work paid with tax-payer subsidies. Huge drain on higher ed funding.
We all know it, yet somehow our careers still depend on publishing in these "top" journals.

“It would not be right to stand here and not acknowledge staff who have been fighting for not more than the bare minimum”. How can we thank you enough for this brave and moving oration at Edinburgh Graduation today. @ucuedinburgh@ucu@sssn_edi
As of today, for the next three weeks, I am ‘locked out’ by my employer, on zero pay, for participating in @UCU’s Marking and Assessment Boycott.
A short thread on why I am participating. 1/6
So turns out that, by telling boycotting staff they're losing 100% of pay & getting 50% back ex gratia (to avoid having to justify 50% as a value being directly deducted), Durham and any other uni using that argument might end up paying that 50% tax free! community.hmrc.gov.uk/custom…
Staff @QUBPsych protesting at being silenced, by being refused entry to the exam board that they co-constitute @ucuatqub Apparently differences of opinion constitutes ‘conflict of interest’ and will not be tolerated. Very disappointing, @QUBelfast
🚨NEW: Indefinite strike action called at Leeds Uni over 100% pay docking
@UniversityLeeds raked in £930m last year. Less than half of that goes to staff
And when staff fight for more, it docks up to 100% of pay
We won't stand for it

The police have arrested what appear to be peaceful republican protesters in Trafalgar Square. It’s in everybody’s interests, especially the Met’s, that they explain exactly why as soon as possible. No matter what you think about monarchy, this is a deeply disturbing moment.
