Yesterday in Washington, with my support, House Republicans voted to fund the Department of Homeland Security because we believe America is safer when our border is secure.
For months, Republicans offered commonsense reforms to strengthen accountability at ICE, including additional training and body cameras.
Democrats refused those reforms and chose not to support funding for border security and immigration enforcement.
I made a different choice.
I stood with the law enforcement officers who protect our communities and defend our nation.
That's why I proudly voted for the Secure America Act.
A secure border means less crime, less strain on taxpayers, and an immigration system that works for those who follow the law and play by the rules.
