There has never been a shortage of optimism from #HS2 supporters but there has been a distinct shortage of accountability for cost increases and delays. To say ‘Turned around’ when the project is a de-scoped shadow of the original scheme is a joke.

The government that is stripping legal rights of SEND children in education to save money, is spending vast amounts on social media influencers in a hope of not looking like complete bastards. What the hell are they thinking?

No empirical evidence that autistic children inherently hold more extremist views. Extensive research from forensic & psychological bodies, shows that autistic individuals are no more likely than anyone else to embrace violent or extremist ideologies So why are Ofsted doing this?
New Ofsted guidance labels autistic children as more likely be extremists – it's grotesque . Please join us at Parliament Square on Friday, 22 May to demand Ofsted treat autistic children and their families with the dignity they deserve . @Ofstednews – remove the lie !

🧵/5 More evidence that Labour don’t listen; some key language here that as a SEND parent sets my alarms bells going:- “Chronic underperformance of these children” - no the 👶didn’t underperform, the state did- Tories underfunding education, shutting sure start, youth services..

The deluded arrogance of the woman is just stratospheric. She has achieved precisely nothing educational since she took office, and seriously thinks she can tell other nations what to do about SEND children.
.@bphillipsonMP's message on SEND is clear: • We can't have a strong and inclusive society without a strong and inclusive education system. • The chronic underperformance of these children was met too often not with a shout of outrage but with a sigh of resignation. Sad but inevitable, the system had decided. • By sending our children to school together, we'll make our country not just stronger but kinder. That's why the Education Secretary is calling on global leaders to join an International Alliance to deliver opportunity for all children with SEND. Find out more: gov.uk/government/news/new-i…

In other news no councils do not hand out blue badges for ADHD. You get it for having scored for with severe mobility limitations Not always a visible disability. This misinformation is actually causing disabled people to be attacked for having a blue badge

This is one of the saddest statistics you will read today. Raising a child is hard, raising a disabled child in a hostile and unsupporting environment must take balls of steel. Lets show them some support and love through decent legislation.
Over 40% of parent-carers nationally have contemplated suicide while caring for a disabled child. The human cost of an overburdened, under-resourced Send system is felt in lost careers, exhausted caregivers . neweconomics.org/2026/05/reb…

Up early and heading to Liverpool to talk to parents, teachers and health professionals supporting children with SEND. Yesterday, @Keir_Starmer spoke about who this government is for and I thought about the parents who have spent years battling for the support their children need, and the teachers and frontline workers who are desperate to help but are held back by a broken system. I’m proud that this government is taking on the big challenges that matter in every community and I’m determined that the voices of those who have too often felt powerless will shape the future of the SEND system.

Without a fight, because there will be fewer legal rights to fight for and fewer routes to challenge wrong decisions. Not quite the same thing as every child getting what they need. The alternative? - strengthen and enforce existing law and make the system work as it should.
We delivered the biggest piece of child protection legislation in a generation. Now Labour's Education For All Bill will support children with SEND to get the support they need more quickly, close to home, without a fight. We will enable every child to achieve and thrive.
