We appreciate
@FCC and
@Chairmancarr for their support of law enforcement officers at Thomson Federal Prison and across the federal Bureau of Prisons. FCC Chairman Carr has changed the agency’s previous policy on cell phone jammers, lifting the ban and now allowing their use on federal property. This change gives the Director of the Federal Bureau the authority to move forward with implementation, representing a major shift from prior policies. We thank Chairman Carr for his leadership on this issue.On Tuesday, February 26, 2013, after his shift at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, Lt. Osvaldo Albarati was murdered. He was targeted because he had disrupted an illegal contraband cellphone operation in the prison. According to the indictment, his killing was arranged by an inmate who used a smuggled cellphone to contact the gunman.
Osvaldo Albarati is listed in the National Law Enforcement Memorial on Panel 18, E-29. Osvaldo, you will never be forgotten.
