This is a major Bus Route Road connecting Madipakkam to Kaiveli, maintained by both Tambaram Corporation and Greater Chennai Corporation. Almost a year after underground drainage works by CMWSSB/Metro Water, the road remains in a disgraceful condition. Instead of proper restoration, residents have been handed a patchwork experiment—uneven concrete fillings, broken surfaces, dangerous level differences and a road that is barely motorable. When one department digs a road, who is responsible for restoring it? When poor-quality patchwork fails, who signs off on it? Where are the Assistant Engineers, Divisional Engineers, Ward Members, Councillors, Superintending Engineers, IAS officers, Mayor and Chief Engineers whose job is to ensure public infrastructure is fit for use? Where is accountability? Millions of taxpayer-funded rupees are spent. Millions of citizens use this road. Yet nobody seems answerable for the final outcome. A mistake is an error made unknowingly. Leaving a critical public road in this condition for nearly a year is negligence. Citizens are not asking for luxury infrastructure—just a properly laid, levelled bitumen road that is safe to travel on. If this is the standard of road restoration after public works, then where exactly is governance?
