One line of analysis I find confusing re Iran is that a 'young' IRGC cadre has taken over. Iran has always skewed toward 'پیرسالاری' and that hasn't changed. Here are many of Iran's current leaders, with their birth-years: 1. Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Born 1969. 2. Seyyed Mehdi Khamoushi – Beyt Chief of Staff. Born 1962. 3. Hojjatol-eslam Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejhe’I – Judiciary head, born 1956. 4. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf – Majlis Speaker. Born 1961. 5. Hossein Taeb -former IRGC Intel Head. Born 1963. 6. BG Ahmad Vahidi – IRGC Commander. Born 1958. 7. Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr – SNSC Director. Born 1954. 8. Ali Akbar Ahmadian – Leader’s Rep on Supreme Defense Council. Born 1961. 9. MG Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi -Khatam al-Anbiya Central HQS Commander. Born 1959. 10. BG Seyyed Majid Mousavi - IRGC Aerospace Force Commander. Born 1965. 11. MG Mohammadi Ali Jaafari – Former IRGC Commander. Born 1957. 12. Yahya Rahim Safavi – Former IRGC Commander. Born 1952. 13. Mohsen Rezai- Expediency Council Member. Born 1954.

Would you like them to throw a red carpet and offer the incoming soldiers Sharbat e Sekanjebin abgoosht e bozbash?
Totally the behavior of a regime willing to deal over the nuclear issue! It’s bad enough they mined the Strait of Hormuz! Now they are mining their own territory to prevent a special operations raid and making sure that if the HEU is taken, it is at the right price.

“They will continue to attack me, my colleagues, and others who challenge their thirst for war. And who knows, they may even succeed in deporting me. But good luck deporting an idea whose time has come. The era of endless war is ending, and no amount of censorship, cancellation, or political intimidation will stop the growing demand for a foreign policy rooted in restraint, diplomacy, and common sense.”
Friends, many of you have contacted me about the FreePress "story" and that I am set to be deported. I haven't had a chance to write, but will do so shortly on my Substack to explain what happened. Thank you all for all the support you have shown! tritaparsi.substack.com/

“Our relationship with Iran is a much different and better one than previous Administrations have had.”
Trump on Truth Social: Barack Hussein Obama’s Deal with Iran, the JCPOA, was an easy, beautiful, smooth road to a Nuclear Weapon, which Iran would have had six years ago, and would have used long before now. My Agreement with Iran is the exact opposite, A WALL TO NO NUCLEAR WEAPON! In fact, they no longer want a Nuclear Weapon, nor will they have one, either through purchase, development, or any other form of procurement. The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL. Our relationship with Iran is a much different and better one than previous Administrations have had. Unlike Obama’s Hundreds of Billions of Dollars in payments to them, including 1.7 Billion Dollars in green, cold cash, no money will exchange hands. At the appropriate time, when all is calm, we will go in and get the Nuclear Dust, buried deep under the powerful sunken granite mountains, thanks to our beautiful B-2 Bombers and their brilliant pilots, and downblend and destroy it, whether in Iran, or the United States. We look forward to working with Iran, and the entire Middle East, long into the future. Hopefully, this process will all work out quickly, easily, and smoothly. If it doesn’t, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again! Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!

Reposting this in support of my friend @tparsi who gave me the best professional advice when I I started my PhD journey in 2017. Trita, despite malicious accusations, has been a strong advocate for engagement and dialogue for years- and I’m very pleased to see that State Department rejected the Free Press’ crazy arguments. P.S. getting the endorsement from Prof. Mearsheimer is something !
I have fought the neocons and warmongers in Washington for more than 25 years. Throughout, they have tried to silence, discredit, slander, and cancel me. Only recently, however, have they tried to deport me. At least, that appears to have been the aim of a hit piece in Bari Weiss’s The Free Press, which claimed that Marco Rubio’s State Department was “investigating” me for allegedly seeking to “undermine the U.S.”—presumably because of my opposition to war with Iran. Yet just hours later, the State Department issued a statement to reporters clarifying that “the State Department has no plans to revoke the green card of Mr. Parsi at this time.” Nor did it provide any confirmation for the central premise of the Free Press story—that an investigation of me existed in the first place. So here’s what I think happened. Read the full piece on my Substack: tritaparsi.substack.com/p/so…

We are closer to a peace deal than ever before. With finalisation likely expected in the next 24 hours, Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace deal immediately after, followed by technical level talks next week. We would like to thank United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran for their ongoing commitment during the negotiations, and we extend our sincere appreciation to our brothers in the region for their support. We are confident that this historic peace deal will form a strong foundation for lasting peace. @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @SecRubio @SteveWitkoff @SEPeaceMissions @drpezeshkian @araghchi

On Thursday evening, President Trump called Benjamin Netanyahu with news he did not want to hear: He expected to sign a deal with Iran within days. "This is the deal. It's a great deal, and it's time to end this war," Trump told Bibi, according to a senior U.S. official

The UAE is releasing billions of dollars to Iran as part of a deal to reduce bilateral tensions and assist with reopening the strait. It could be as much as $20 billion. $3 billion has already been delivered, confirming rumors from earlier this week. The move comes after the emirates emerged as the single largest target for Iranian missiles and drones during the war. From confrontation to accommodation. reuters.com/world/middle-eas…

FM Araghchi just a movement ago: if the current deal isn’t implemented there won’t be nuclear talks. 👇🏼
Commitments made must be commitments kept. No ifs, no buts, no excuses. For the close deal ahead, there is no other way. You reap what you sow.

What @PeterBeinart said on @tparsi
More eloquently than almost anyone else in Washington, @tparsi warned that this war against Iran would be a catastrophe. His reward? The Trump administration is reportedly considering deporting him. This is how America makes itself both stupid and unfree. Anyone who cares about intelligent debate, freedom and basic decency must speak now.

Pakistanis also suggesting that peace is at hand while denying the media reports aimed at sabotaging diplomacy
Amid ongoing intense mediation efforts by Pakistan, we are fully aware of incessant misinformation campaign being waged by those who want to sabotage the peace deal. Setting aside the noise, we can confirm that a final, agreed upon text of the peace deal has been reached and Pakistan is now working closely with both sides to finalize the next steps. Peace has never been this close as it is now. @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @SecRubio @SteveWitkoff @SEPeaceMissions @drpezeshkian @araghchi
