Official data from the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment shows that more than 762,000 Pakistanis left the country in 2025 in search of better job opportunities abroad.
The figures highlight ongoing economic pressures and limited employment options within the country, especially for young people. A large share of migrants were laborers and low-skilled workers, but over 18,000 were highly qualified professionals, including doctors, engineers, IT specialists, managers, and nurses.
Saudi Arabia was the leading destination, followed by the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and the UK. While remittances support Pakistan’s economy, experts w@rn of growing brain drain concerns.
