I’m incredibly honored to have been sworn in yesterday to represent Texas’s 18th congressional district, and to have my wife Kaitlyn by my side. I stand on the incredible legacy built by this district, and today I’m ready to get to work.

Medgar Evers was a father, a husband, a son, a brother, and a fearless fighter for civil rights. 63 years ago today, he was assassinated in his own driveway at just 37 years old because he dared to stand up for the right to vote and for equal justice under the law. His murder is a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today were won through courage, sacrifice, and struggle. As Medgar Evers said, “Freedom has never been free.” So when people claim the fight for equality is over, they ignore the sacrifices of those who gave everything to move this country forward.

I didn't come to Congress to sit on the sidelines. I came here to hold Donald Trump and this administration accountable when they put politics ahead of people. We deserve leaders who will fight for them, ask tough questions, and stand up when something isn't right. That's exactly what I intend to do. Enjoyed talking with @ChewsViews about what's at stake for everyday Americans and the road ahead.

10 years ago today, 49 lives were taken in a senseless act of violence at Pulse Nightclub. Their lives mattered. Their stories mattered. And their memories deserve to be honored not just today, but every day. May we never forget those we lost, and keep working for a more compassionate future.
Today, we remember the 49 lives stolen at Pulse Nightclub, an LGBTQI nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Our members will continue working to end the epidemics of violence and hate so that no person ever has to live in fear of extremist violence like this ever again.

Congressman Christian D. Menefee retweeted
This week, we forced a vote & passed @DonaldNorcross' Faster Labor Contracts Act✊ This bill requires employers to bargain with organized workers within 10 days of voting to form their union. We're calling on the Senate to pass the bill & deliver for workers.

Ready, set, play ball! ⚾️ Excited to suit up for my rookie baseball game tonight. It’s not every day I get to trade in a suit and tie for a jersey. Looking forward to having some fun and helping raise thousands of dollars for a great cause. @thehillbaseball

Houston has been hit by disaster after disaster. Families have lost homes, businesses, & loved ones. Now Trump's Secretary of Energy wants to tell us hurricanes and floods aren't getting worse? Climate change is real, if he believes otherwise, he's welcome to come to Houston and explain it to the families still rebuilding after these storms. @sciencedems

Donald Trump promised lower costs on day 1. That’s it. That’s the tweet.

When workers vote to form a union, they ought to get a contract, not a year of corporate stalling. That's why I support the Faster Labor Contracts Act. Now Republicans are saying that this bill moved too fast. That's rich coming from the same folks who spent their committee time doing political theatre. @Labor_Caucus

Families across America are are stretching every dollar just to get by. Groceries cost more. Gas costs more. And what do Republicans do? They write ICE a bigger check. Not a dime to make life more affordable. That's why I voted NO on Republican's budget bill.

Trump and Elon Musk slashed funding for screwworm monitoring, and now the flesh-eating maggots are in Texas threatening our food supply. This is what happens when foolish billionaires run the government. American families end up paying the price.
The return of the flesh-eating screwworm fly in Texas has ranchers and government agencies scrambling to contain what could threaten a $113 billion cattle industry in the U.S. fox26houston.com/news/screww…

This past week it was great spending time with @AldineISD students participating in the @CloseUp_DC program. More than 1 million students from the program come up to Capitol Hill each year to learn the ins and outs of the functions of our government. These students are the future, and TX-18 will be in good hands with them leading the way.

It’s simple —corporate America must stand by its commitments to voting rights, equal representation & democracy. Black voters and lawmakers have power, and we’re holding corporations accountable.
United across our caucuses, we are clear: Corporate America must stand with us in defending democracy and fair representation—not just in words, but through action. Silence is not leadership. cbc.house.gov/news/documents…

In Houston, too many families have buried loved ones after years of living near polluting facilities that have been linked to higher rates of cancer and other serious health problems. Today at the @ScienceDems hearing, I demanded answers about why the Trump Administration is dismantling the science that helps protect public health and hold polluters accountable. Communities like mine cannot afford to have politics override science.

June is a time to celebrate the LGBTQIA community, but it is also a time to confront the hatred and violence that still exist. Last week, Houston lost Persia Amarra Conway. Far too many transgender people, especially Black trans women, face violence simply for being who they are. This Pride Month and every month, I will continue to stand with the LGBTQIA community.

The House just passed Democrats’ War Powers Resolution to end Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Trump started this conflict without a plan, and Republicans spent weeks blocking votes to stop it. After 85 days of an unauthorized conflict, today was a win for the American people. Now the Senate needs to do its part and pass it.
