DNA ➡️RNA➡️protein... right? think again. Now #Jun_Lu, #Dan_Wu & teams show that extracellular RNA guides neutrophils to sites of inflammation by serving as a ligand for selectins @torres_lidiane_ and myself have been fortunate to add our 2 cents 🙏 authors.elsevier.com/c/1iTUZ…

This really is delightful work. It has the rare property that it changes everything - dendritic cells (and thus the whole immune system) work in a different way than we previously thought. Knowing this means we can understand other things better.
Dendritic cells can “self-shape” the chemotactic gradients that help them transport antigens to lymph nodes, finds a new live imaging study from @Sixt_Lab @EdouardHannezo. 📄: scim.ag/3Wv Focus by @hannahdonnelly_ @EMandrou @robinsall: scim.ag/3Wu

🧵(1/6) How do immune cells know where to go? It has been proposed that cells simply respond to externally established gradients of chemokines, but we think that’s not all…

Congrats to @TFordRobertson and @LabHutt for this super cool paper! Amazing insights into the evolution of adaptive immune responses and what a spectacular new paradigm of collective cell migration!
🚨 New paper alert out now in @PNASNews! Have you ever wondered how T cells search the host for antigen in animals that don’t have lymph nodes (ie fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles)? Then this one’s for you: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.23… @ZebrafishRock @LabHutt #Immunology #zebrafish
