After reading the latest round of cyber news, I can confirm that South Africa has successfully migrated from a developing economy to a production CTF environment.
Hackers infiltrated South Africa's top supercomputer and used it to mine cryptocurrency, the Centre for High Performance Computing has told users. mybroadband.co.za/news/hardw…

So frustrating… This afternoon, the SANDF was meant to take part in an operation in the Bishop Lavis SAPS precinct. Only four SAPS members reportedly showed up. The rest was explained away with excuses about leave, sick leave etc. This forms part of scores of complaints I have received from SANDF members who want to work, but are increasingly frustrated by some station SAPS members in known gang areas. They describe certain members as lackadaisical, haphazard or plainly not interested in working. I have also received serious allegations that some members tip off gang members before operations take place. I have already reported this to the relevant persons. This is one of the reasons why Operation Prosper is not prosperous. IC

There is a symbiotic relationship between South American drug cartels and terrorist groups in West Africa. A cocaine shipment bound for West Africa, with a street value of $1 billion was recently intercepted with intel provided by AFRICOM. AFRICOM Commander Gen. Dagvin Anderson

French President Macron can try and move away from France's colonial history in Africa, but France still carries that baggage. Same for US treating Africa as a Cold War chessboard. It will take generations before that can be forgotten. That's reality. aljazeera.com/news/2026/5/10…

There was a time when we didnt count the # of US Ambassadors in Africa we had, but rather the # of those Ambassadors who actually came from the Africa Bureau and understood the continent versus interlopers from NEA just looking for a title. No More. theafricareport.com/415891/t…

Camara may have led the country in the wrong direction, strategically speaking, but he undoubtedly was a patriot who didn't want to see the country fall to jihadists.

China isn't a model for Africa for the same reason that the EU isn't. Africa is its own unique place with its own complexities. These profs saying Africa must conform to external models make me tired 😩 African solutions pls

You can’t download a pirated movie using starlink, you’ll get a mail before you finish downloading it but terrorists are using starlink to coordinate attacks while nothing happens. Okay
This was last year in Southern Niger, near Nigeria's border. These "Islamic Jihadists" have diesel generators, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cash, and Starlink terminals. Every kb of data sent on a Starlink network is traceable and identifiable, and Starlink itself is a US military project. So please explain where semi-literate, "Caliphate-seeking Jihadists" obtained and learned how to use all this equipment; and how they coordinate their operation using internet terminals controlled by the US military, which somehow never shut them down and allowed them keep running even though they definitely knew what they were being used for! And you're supposed to believe that this is some sort of organic religious movement that somehow took some of the world's poorest people in some desolate part of the Sahel - people who cook with firewood and dry cow dung, and who have never handled N15,000 before in their lives - and magically earned them the $40,000 minimum you need to buy the equipment in these pictures; then they somehow learned how to use all these things that they had never seen before by reepating "Allahu Akbar!" 3 times while turning in a circle. At some point you have to look at the material facts of the matter, then look at yourself in a mirror and answer the question, "Am I an absolute dickhead? Am I really this stupid?"

Again who taught illiterate cattle herders how to use military grade equipment. Who funds their operations. How do they buy fuel? Food? Drugs? Medicine? Where do they sleep? We’re not a serious country. That’s the truth.

Considering a thread on capabilities planned in the 96 white paper, verses current stocks and reassessed requirements. Currently the SAAF sees a requirement for minimum 16 medium tactical airlifters, the role which the C390 will fill. Personally I think 2x squadrons of 12 is more appropriate. Regarding helicopters, the 96 WP requirement was 94 medium weight rotary platforms. Currently there are 39 oryx airframes, 2 written off, one stuck in Goma and 4-8 serviceable on any given day. But the revised requirement is 88. That's not heavy lift, light utility or dedicated naval SAR platforms, that's just the medium category that would do general utility, troop transport and medical evacuation. Special forces have their own airlift requirements for both rotary and fixed wing.
Replying to @1TrueRicardo
Hm, maybe another 4 in batch 2 then? Even 4 would be a massive upgrade of capability, although if any white paper would have been implemented, the SAAF should have at least 12 "strategic" airlifters and (1996 white paper) 96 (!) transport helicopters including heavy lift

The U.S. expressed that it is deeply disappointed by Rwanda’s continued escalation of the conflict, which constitutes a direct violation of its obligations under the Washington Accords. The U.S has reiterated its call for the immediate withdrawal of Rwandan troops. The sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of the DRC must be respected.

Pan Africanist but you hardly mention Sudan's war like the Iran war. Islamist jihadists terrorize innocent Africans but your concern is justifying Russia's war on Ukraine. Most Africans have very poor living standards but you rather romanticize China invading Taiwan. Clowns 😂

South Africa is finally waking up to the major asset they've had all along.. smart people in the defense industry. 🇿🇦🔫💣
South Africa 🇿🇦 exported R10.1 billion ($590 million) in defence equipment and munitions, nearly three times the R3.6 billion ($210 million) exported the previous year. The National Conventional Arms Control Committee approved 582 permits to 42 countries. Munitions accounted for R4.8 billion, including a R3.3 billion order from Germany. Other buyers were Turkey, Kenya, France, and the UAE. Europe took 42% of exports, the Middle East 23%, Africa 20%, Asia-Pacific 12%, and the Americas 3%. Deliveries included over 130 armoured vehicles, two naval vessels to Tanzania, and aircraft to Iraq, DRC, and Mozambique. South Africa has Africa’s largest defence industry and ranks among the world’s top 20 arms exporters.
