"Some parts that were typically left out of the financial systems have made faster movements in new spaces. The US is actually much more of a cash-based system than a lot of other similar countries in terms of financial access. Just like some countries went from paper to text messages and skipped email or faxes, the same thing can happen with currency - you have a lot of leapfrogging. It's easier to implement things in smaller groups, so you can have better digitalization in some of those smaller emerging markets where they already find it expensive to print money, manage money, deal with robberies. They can actually leapfrog.
