In this article, our detractors finally concede, and finally, if reluctantly recognize “the majority of founders and active members of the MAGA Communist tendency” are Communists and came from socialist backgrounds, and that MAGA Communism’s premise was in pursuit of a mass politics.
With the immanent collapse and transformation of MAGA in the face of Zionism and imperialism, this article is doing what others on the Left and elsewhere have done since the start of Trump II: stealthily concede to the premise of MAGA Communism, and subtly claim credit for it. The author says, “It is the Democratic Socialists, Democrats, and forces like Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes who have won over those who have departed from the MAGA movement.”
Haha, but hold on! When MAGA Communists were the first ones to even suggest this was possible — that MAGA people would defect from Trump in search of answers — we were called crazy, naive, etc. Now, when our prediction becomes a reality, it’s assimilated into the Democrat Left’s unchanged doctrine, and we get no credit.
The rest of the article makes so many factual mistakes and conjectured claims that the underlying message isn’t sustained, but I will say this:
MAGA Communist pre-party cadre were unable to cohere a nationally significant politicized mass portion out of the MAGA base. Why?
1) Many people who would have done that were dedicating their time to work in the CPUSA, which was ultimately necessary and inevitable.
2) Other such potential “cadre,” who were not in the CPUSA, were (imo) too lazy and did not do enough of anything on the ground.
3) MAGA itself was decentralized and unconcentrated. There were many of us who identified MAGA sections in unions, community groups, heath groups, towns, etc. and were able to break ice with them and develop relationships. But only a minority of MAGA could be find concentrated like this. The rest were ordinary people who had very limited time for organizing themselves.
Really, the ultimate problem is that MAGA was dispersed and unorganized, and shy. MAGA Communism, therefore, practically meant the primary organization of MAGA itself. This was tried by a handful of people, while they withstood attacks from the entire Left and tried to work within the CPUSA at the same time.
In under 2 years the ACP went from 0 to 1,000 members, hundreds disciplined and well-organized, from 0 structures to a complex and robust party culture, from few working community and labor relationships to each chapter having multiple strong ones, most of which is not posted about consistently (just like any other organization). And yes, we have attracted many ex-MAGA people who would never have anything to do with any other Democrat organization. Anyone who can’t admit the ACP is at least punching within their weight class (if they refuse to admit we punch above it), is putting their head in the sand.
If the expectation for organizations of 1,000 is to organize a significant fraction of 30 million people and reverse decades of anticommunism in under 2 years, and anything less than that is “failure” and “stagnation,” then absolutely no one is passing that test.
The Left has had, let’s be charitable and say, at least 11 years since Bernie announced his campaign to develop “social bases” and “organization.” The DSA, the ‘successful fruit’ of the Bernie campaigns, is an organization of 100,000 with a social base of depressed academics and professionals. They forget only the blue-collar proletariat they scorn is the master of history.
Only ACP is met with such high expectations. Which is another way of saying, only ACP is recognized as having that potential. And it’s true. Now just watch!
“MAGA Communism is dead.”
From rally-side interviews to the launch of the “American Communist Party,” Gigi G. explores the arc of a tendency that chased the MAGA base, mistook engagement for organization, and built a “party” that never transcended the internet. No movement, no impact, no mass base—just content, metrics, and a theory that folded the moment it faced the reality of American political conditions. Why did it collapse at the exact moment it claimed history was on its side?
