A significant momentum to expand registries in SSA: closing data gaps.
ALT Population-based cancer registries (PBCRs) collect data on all new cancer cases to produce key indicators about cancer burden. High-quality PBCR data is essential to guide decision-making in cancer control, helping countries know where to invest and monitor the impact of their cancer programs. In the past years, several countries have explored sourcing PBCR data directly from DHIS2, independently reproducing complex DHIS2 data validations based on CanReg5 software (a global public good for PBCR systems offered by the International Agency for Research on Cancer).
In the DHIS2 Cancer Registry Toolkit Launch Webinar (Part 1), we will first introduce the use case for cancer registry data in DHIS2, and then present a generic DHIS2 Tracker program for cancer registries aligned with the CanReg5 data model.
