Raising the retirement age for Social Security is effectively a benefit cut—which I strongly oppose. Remember, Donald Trump promised not to "touch" Social Security.

This is damning. This was his main justification for the war.

General Eaton led troops in Iraq. He knows what war looks like. His verdict on Trump's Iran War? America LOST, and Iran is in stronger a position because of it.

Before President Trump officially nominated Todd Blanche to be the nation’s 88th Attorney General, Blanche had engaged in what looked like a manic spree of auditioning for the top job. He touted one flimsy indictment (of the former F.B.I. director James Comey, for posting on social media a photo of “86 47,” written in seashells) after another (criminal charges against the Southern Poverty Law Center, for allegedly defrauding its donors). He ramped up a seemingly stalled criminal investigation into the former C.I.A. director John Brennan. And he presided over the creation of a nearly $1.8-billion “anti-weaponization” slush fund, supposedly to settle the Trump family’s lawsuit against the I.R.S., for a private contractor’s leak of tax records. (This looting of the Treasury has apparently been averted, following a rare revolt by Republican lawmakers.) The Senate vote on Blanche’s nomination to be Deputy Attorney General last year was 52–46, along party lines. That was when his background—he had been a registered Democrat until 2023—offered the hope that he would stand up for the norms of Justice Department independence. “The optimism that Blanche would be a moderating force, though, seems to have underestimated the corrupting power of ambition,” Ruth Marcus writes. “In a Senate that took its constitutional role seriously, Blanche would not win confirmation a second time.” Read Ruth Marcus on why Todd Blanche should not be Attorney General: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/Sv…

Vance: What's interesting about President Trump is that he doesn't wear it on his sleeve, but he is a person of faith. He thinks about these very deep questions: where did we come from? Where are we going?

President Trump claimed that his ballroom project would cost up to $400 million and that private donors would pay for all of it. But a detailed summary estimated the total construction cost at $600 million — with more than half coming from taxpayers. wapo.st/4vRSidG

I remember when there was a multi-day news cycle outrage when Joe Biden mixed up the presidents of Mexico & Egypt. But Trump can say dumb shit like this & it won’t even make a single headline today, let alone tomorrow. No discussions about his mental health (ignorance?) either.
Trump: "Qatar is the closest to Iran, physically. With other countries, I noticed they had to travel about 45 minutes to get there. With you, you could walk right across the border." There's no land border between Iran and Qatar. They're separated by the Persian Gulf.

He sent 13 service members to their deaths over “not very valuable stuff”? 168 Iranian school girls. Thousands of civilians killed. Our bases badly damaged. Stockpiles depleted. $80 billion price tag. $6 gas. For “not very valuable stuff”?

Democrats manta for the midterms should be: “ Trump didn’t do what he said he was going to do.” That’s a message that’s resonating with independent and Trump voters right now.

Wow. Damning analysis from former DOJ attorney @LawyerOyer: "It is all about dismantling the safeguards that allow the President and his now personal fixer, Todd Blanche, to get his enemies — to punish people — even when the institutional norms don't support that. And that's what really jumped out at me about the case of Gavin Newsom here."
