I am thrilled to share our new publication!! Using mice, organoids, live imaging and biochemistry, we show the RNA binding protein EIF4A3 directly binds and controls microtubules to promote axon growth. Thanks to super talented @alsina_fc and an outstanding team of collaborators!
Happy to share our work about how neurons re-utilize gene expression regulators to directly control cytoskeletal dynamics. We found that the nucleating component of the Exon Junction Complex, EIF4A3, acts non-canonically as a microtubule-binding protein to regulate axonal growth.

Congrats Lola! Amazing opportunity to work with an excellent scientist!! Check it out.
I'm thrilled to announce that the Irala lab is now open at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital @StJudeResearch! We'll investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of astrocyte-neuron communication and how synaptic balance is achieved and maintained during brain development

Exciting news and opportunity to work with a fantastic scientist and mentor!! It was wonderful to have you in my lab these past years and I am so excited for all the future discoveries from the Alsina lab!
I am thrilled to share that I have joined @StJudeResearch as a faculty member. The Alsina lab is now open and studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms of brain development in health and disease, with focus on RNA and cytoskeleton regulation.

@SanfordResearch is hiring! We have two assistant scientist/professor PI positions open, one in the field of rare disease and another in pediatric oncology. Please RT! I have been working there for 5 years and I cannot recommend this place more. It is an amazing institution to do some rigorous, cutting-edge science. Highly collaborative, super efficient environment, and excellent research tools. We have multiple cores for cutting edge microscopy, single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, BioID, histology, animal behavior... Grant money goes a long-way here, as a lot of these have very low fees or are just simply free. A lot of newly-minted PIs have gotten R35 or R01 funding rapidly. Also my wife and I have come to love Sioux Falls to raise our family. Sioux Falls is growing super rapidly, the schools are great, and it is affordable. I am leaving the link here. jobs.sciencecareers.org/job/…

Thank you so much for sharing your exciting science and especially to @Shinkeikairoke1 for lots of fun science discussions, for being an incredible host in the beautiful cities of Kyoto and Tokyo, and many delicious meals! I am so grateful for an amazing visit!
Today I had a wonderful opportunity to discuss with Prof Debra Silver (@TheSilverLab )! She gave us impressing talk regarding her current projects, development and evolution of brain! Moreover, She gave me a lot of suggestions about my project. Thank you for coming!
