Hopefully the updated XBB.1.5 mRNA vaccine which will also offer good protection against the Eris (EG.5.1) variant.
Link says: 'Further advice on the choice of vaccine products for use this autumn will be provided in due course.' I wonder what's under negotiation. Monovalent updated to match variants currently circulating?

And really important that we improve collaboration between human and animal public health. We also need more interdisciplinary research on animal and human pathogens.
Throughout the pandemic, we supported the national response and published cutting-edge microbiological research on COVID-19. Now, we have submitted evidence to an inquiry on emerging diseases and learnings from #COVID-19. Find out more: microb.io/3NztjqO 👈

Sad news of Harald zur Hausen death. His work revolutionised our understanding of how viruses contribute to human cancer. His original studies on EBV provided the foundation for his discovery that certain types of HPV cause cervical cancer. nobelprize.org/prizes/medici…

Happy 102nd birthday to Sir Anthony Epstein. The virus he discovered with Yvonne Barr and Bert Achong in 1964 continues to surprise us! Most recently implicated in multiple sclerosis and long covid, EBV also plays a role in certain cancers. Important therapeutic target.

Dampening of the T cell response after SARS-CoV-2 infection also explains reactivation of EBV with increased risk of long covid.
"findings suggest that SARS-CoV-2 infection damages the CD8 T cell response, an effect akin to that observed in earlier studies showing long-term damage to the immune system after infection with viruses such as hepatitis C or HIV"
