The polar shift of Canadian politics between the feds and Ontario is real. Nearly 85% of the time since WW2 has had a different party in Ottawa than at Queen's Park. We're right on schedule for another, based on post-1980 trends, too.
The strongest indication anywhere that the Federal Liberals are on their way out of Ottawa and the Conservatives will win, is when the Ontario Liberals are in a serious fight to take back control of Queen's Park from the Tories. It's the polar shift of Canadian politics.

Wild to see Minister Solomon talk about how Canadians want stronger privacy rules even as government pushes for mandatory metadata retention and the Liberal MP who said lawful access has nothing to with “the privacy of people and their information” stands behind him.

Anyone else find it strange… A couple weeks after the internet exposed the UK trying to hide the Henry Nowak murder the UK is pushing internet censorship? I’m sure it’s a total coincidence.

A Muslim pretending to understand Christianity. The Psalms are just a collection of Hebrew poems and prayers not the Gospel. And that Psalm is referring to lies and deceit like those spoken by the false prophet Muhammad.
So disgustingly sick of this holier than thou façade. It’s how so many politicians are able to get away with things they should be in jail for.

It's incredible how clueless they are about the existence of VPNs and how 70% of teenagers in Australia already use them to bypass social media age restrictions. If a parent doesn't care enough to monitor social media, they sure aren't going to care about a VPN app.
Because it requires centralised leadership. Only extraordinary parents of teenagers can keep their kids off phones- FOMO rules. Means your kid won’t have friends. How many parents of 15 year olds do you know who manage to keep their kids off phones?

Worst part of all is that the VPN is going to open a door to a lot uglier stuff that they can't get under the status quo. These folks are utter morons about the way the world of technology really works. Total embarrassment. (But that's because this is really about censorship)

This is the point. Same will happen in all countries that will make social media age restrictions. “Won’t someone think of the children” is usually not about the children
JUST IN: UK Government clarifies adults will still be able to use social media by verifying their identities with digital IDs, facial recognition, passports and credit cards.

Banning social media for teenagers only puts them in greater danger. Teens are forced to switch to VPNs — and unlock far worse illegal content. We’ve seen this before. When the Russian government banned Telegram, 95% of Russian teenagers kept using it. They just moved to VPNs.

Not a hot take: The UK, Canadian, etc "social media bans" that we *all* know are really just a backdoor to Internet ID and censorship, are dead on arrival: The Americans who run these platforms will just flip the bird and laugh while Trump swing the tariffhammer. The Europeans, contrary to the bloviations of the usual statist elite, controls nothing - not even themselves.

Leftists when they are told not to do drugs in public places:
Imagine we had just one decent political party to vote for.

In other words - they admit it isn't about kids; it's about censorship and control. (We already knew that)
For too long trolls & cowards have posted hate online anonymously. This is a good move.

I don't think Elon "Go Fuck Yourself" Musk is all too worried about what these countries worth less than his personal net worth have to say about any of this. Just saying.
If digital ID is needed for X, I’m done here.

A far smarter middle ground for YouTube would be to make it compulsory for all accounts for 13-16 year olds to be linked to a parent account for monitoring. YouTube already offer this.
Sorry, bright 13/14/15 year old. You can’t watch that interview with Jared Isaacman, or that explainer of orbital mechanics from Scott Manley. But don’t worry, we haven’t banned YouTube Kids! Here’s Baby Shark instead.

The story that won’t die. Because every bit of criticism that surfaces about Eric has the effect of making more Ontarians sit up and take notice of his reality based approach and policies.

Hilarious that a guy who's party pulled off the most third-world, ballot-stuffing by election leadership race not even a month ago is now very concerned about the ethics of letting those with dissenting views into the party.

I’m not going to measure my healthcare proposals on how “American” people perceive solutions to be. I will instead ask the question: Why is our universal healthcare system underperforming nearly every other universal system in the developed world, at a higher cost? What lessons do top performing systems like those of Japan, Denmark, and the Netherlands hold for us? Nor will I buckle at acknowledging reality: The vast majority of healthcare in Ontario is delivered privately but paid publicly. And frankly, it would be decent for the media to actually state this as a duty to inform the public. Ensuring there is “competitiveness” among providers Ontario is paying is paramount to the public interest. There is no need for this word to be taboo in our healthcare conversation. Many of the solutions are operational and technological, not ideological. Digital health records. Integrated specialist referral systems. Public 24hr urgent care centers. Public fast diagnostic centers. So many more! Ontarians want to see the public system work. That will be my priority and focus. Not only will I invest in expanding access and capacity, nobody will ever need to pay for it out of pocket.
NEW: An Ontario Liberal leadership candidate who has been generating support in Conservative circles for his policy positions is pushing back against critics who are suggesting he’s attracting the wrong kind of attention to the party. globalnews.ca/news/11904275/… #onpoli

It is NOT a "ban on social media for kids" It IS a "ban on social media for every citizen that has not registered their social media account with the government"

The plebs are catching on.
I might be wrong - But this new Social Media Ban for 16 year olds, actually means WE then HAVE TO PROVE we are over 16?? This means we have to use digital ID anyway now if we want to stay on here?

Nothing delegitimatizes the Canadian left more than overusing the term “far right” If you think voices like @tobi and @MacLeodLisa shouldn’t be part of mainstream political discourse, you’re probably the extremist.
I actually think Eric is a nice guy, but it's a pretty big red flag that he's attracting far-right voices like Tobi and Lisa MacLeod.
