Of course Jews pay more attention to Israel than other conflicts -- it is the Jewish state, and it is often our friends / family / community under attack. The challenge is why those who are not Jewish pay so much more attention to Israel than e.g. Yemen, Syria, Sudan, or China.

I see Sam Harris, the Gaza genocide apologist and ‘New Atheist’ apologist for a self-proclaimed Jewish state, is doing the usual pro-Israel whataboutism by cynically asking why people aren’t protesting, or didn’t protest or condemn, the killing Yemeni kids by a Saudi coalition backed by the US.
So here’s my challenge to Sam Harris. Let’s compare records. Let’s compare what I have said and written about Yemen over the years with what Harris has said/written.
Let’s compare what Ro Khanna or Bernie Sanders has said about Yemen, and what Harris has said.
Let’s see who uses Yemen cynically as whataboutism to defend Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and who actually gives a damn about the people of Yemen and is consistent when it comes to objecting to US-backed foreign wars and genocides.
Shame on Sam Harris.

To add further context, Egypt had been peace with Israel for over thirty years when this happened to Logan. Nevertheless, there are less than a dozen openly practicing Jews living there. Antisemitism, like the rest of the Middle East, is everywhere in Egypt. Egyptians call each other Jews like Americans call each other assholes. Every Egyptian religious figure or politician demonizes Israel, blaming Jews and Israelis for all of their problems, despite the fact that no Jews live there, and they've had peace with Israel for decades.
Denial of Middle Eastern antisemitism helps nobody. Failing to factor it into your mental model of how the world works means that you are delusional, and live in a fantasy world. Nobody should take anything you say seriously.

She was reporting on the celebrations of Hosni Mubarak’s resignation when the crowd turned on her. They tore her clothes off and sexually assaulted and violently violated her for 20 to 30 minutes with their hands, over and over.
The frenzy exploded the moment someone screamed she was Jewish and Israeli. Then all they wanted was to rape her, beat her, and rip her apart.
This is what that hatred looks like in action. October 7 was not a surprise.

The same crowd, in the same hour, mocked the dictator whose missiles canceled this parade last year and the ministers who tried to defund it this year.
No other street in the Middle East permits the first photo. No other movement in the region would risk the second.
The pinkwashing argument doesn’t survive these photos.

The Home Office (with a sense of suicidal empathy) set up a fast track migration pathway for people from some of the most violent and war torn parts of the world.
This allowed the Sudanese Belfast stabbing suspect to be granted right to stay without an interview.
We somehow constructed a migration system making it incredibly hard for productive people from peaceful developed parts of the world to come here, while incredibly easy for non-contributing people from undeveloped violent parts of the world to be granted leave to remain.
This is insanity.
