Robert Jenrick pledges to charge employers higher National Insurance and an extra "migrant labour levy" for employing workers from overseas.
The policy would encourage firms to sack foreign workers and hire British workers instead. It is weighted to cost more to hire foreign workers on low pay.
Jenrick says at a press conference that those migrants, who would no longer be in work, "should obviously leave" the UK.

Day 1 in Belfast, and its clear this is a city were Muslims are gripped by fear.
Mosques guarded by armed police around the clock. Worshippers told to pray and head straight home. Burned-out halal shops still scar the streets.
People are afraid to speak. Afraid to be seen. Afraid to leave their homes. The threat of far-right aggression is very real.

They burned down the house of African student nurses who are there for their NHS placement. The only things one of them could grab were her uniform, her laptop, & passport. She had to leave the letters her children wrote for her & their photos behind

We all need to resist attempts like this to politicise Henry Nowak’s death and divide our country - whether they come from MAGA politicians like Vance or their cronies here in the UK.
Henry Nowak died the same way a civilization dies: abandoned, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and accused of hate crimes he did not commit. His murder is as tragic as it is enraging. He should still be alive today, and he would be if the last few generations of European elites had stood their ground against the politics of self-hatred and the mass invasion of migrants, many of whom despise the West and the people who love it.
Henry was far from the first to so needlessly lose his life, and I fear he won’t be the last. Each time a life like his is lost, the proper response—the only response—is righteous anger. One of the most important things the Trump administration has proven to the world is that stopping the flow of mass migration and defending national sovereignty is a matter of political will and leadership. Anything else is an excuse.
It is because we love the West that we want to preserve it. We love our civilization. We love our country. We love our children. And nobody—nobody—should ever die the way that Henry Nowak died. May God comfort those who loved him, and may God rest his soul.

Survation conducted a new poll of the Makerfield constituency. Fieldwork was conducted by telephone among 518 adults in the constituency between 26th May and 1st June 2026. A combination of landline and mobile data were used.
Methodology Statement
Population Sampled: All residents aged 18 living in the Makerfield parliamentary constituency.
Total Sample Size: 518
Data Collection Method: Telephone interview. A combination of landline and mobile data were used.
Fieldwork Dates: 26th May – 1st June 2026
Data Weighting: Data were weighted to the profile of all adults in Makerfield constituency aged 18 . Data were weighted by age, sex, ward and 2024 General Election vote.
Targets for the weighted data were derived from Office for National Statistics data and the results of the 2024 UK General Election.
Margin of Error: Because only a sample of the full population was interviewed, all results are subject to a margin of error. For example, in a question where 50% gave a particular answer, with a sample of 518 it is 95% certain that the “true” value would fall within 4.8 percentage points of the sample result.
