The damaging wind swath from Wednesday, June 10 has been preliminarily confirmed as a derecho.
The wind swath had a track length over 400 miles with a footprint just under 100,000 square miles. The strongest known gust was measured at over 94 mph.

The threat of severe weather in the northeastern U.S. today is a good reminder to think about how to stay safe while attending outdoor events when storms threaten.
Don’t let lightning catch you off guard.
⚡Follow the 30-minute rule: wait at least half an hour after you see lightning or hear thunder before heading back outside.
Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
ALT Storm Safety during outdoor events: Move to a fully-enclosed structure or hard-top vehicle at the first sign of lightning. Wait 30 minutes after the last strike before resuming activities. Watch for falling debris and flying objects during high winds. Use caution when walking on wet surfaces to avoid dangerous slips and falls. When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!

IT will likely be another 2 years before we see another event like today was. 90% of the tornadoes were monster tornadoes and more than likely Ef2 tornadoes with maybe an Ef4 in one case pending rating.
That was crazy as nearly every chaser got a career day too. We had nearly 30-40 tornadoes today but may likely had more with all the QLCS tornadoes in MI/IN/IL/WI the NWS needs to check on. This was the event of 2026 and this won't be topped I think.

This was a wild shot strike I captured last week near Aguirre Springs on the eastern side of the Organ Mountains in southern New Mexico. To the right you can see the peaks known as "Rabbit Ears." I had to carefully avoid a massive hail core on this severe and flood warned storm . I held the camera on the window of the 4Runner. #newmexico #lascruces

Next line of storms to watch are slowly tracking NE through #Michigan
Several of the storms are currently tornado warned (Red polygons)
