A new milestone for humankind: The crew of Artemis II are now the farthest any human has ever travelled, reaching a maximum distance of 252,752 miles from Earth. This surpasses the previous record set by Apollo 13 in 1970 by about 4,102 miles.

NASA is advancing nuclear power and propulsion in space to accomplish President Trump’s national space objectives. With SR-1 Freedom, launching in 2028, we will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and deliver SkyFall helicopters to Mars. In collaboration with @Energy, these capabilities are key to future missions to Mars and beyond. A new chapter of deep space exploration begins. šŸš€

Space is hard, and your mind wanders to of whether something in transit or launch has damaged something in one of the engines. Well yesterday we saw engine working perfectly on the Blue spacecraft šŸš€šŸ›°ļø. Gold follows next Monday.

This is great for NASA and I would love to see 10 x $100 million missions like this a year...accepting more risk but with the aim of getting to the science faster and at lower cost. Best of luck to the ESCAPADE, Berkley, Rocket Lab and Blue Origin teams.

Well over $20B in taxpayer, paid for assets being thrown away for a savings that's literally pennies on those dollars. I'm all for shrinking waste and increasing efficiencies in our government, but this is neither. science.org/content/article/…

Where did all the water on Mars go? For the first time, NASA's MAVEN orbiter has directly observed a process called atmospheric sputtering, which could be described as ā€œdoing a cannonball in a pool.ā€ MAVEN's lead scientist explains: go.nasa.gov/4mInt7y
