Just got my copy of @AnupamBJena@ChrisWorsham “Random Acts of Medicine.” Can’t wait to crack it open. These two are among the most original thinkers in healthcare at a time when we need people who look at problems differently.
Nuclear power could be as cheap as coal, and vastly safer and better for the climate. But it is eye-wateringly expensive because we have regulated it badly.
The answer, argues @johnrmyers, is to allow US states to create regulatory sandboxes for nuclear.

THEY DID IT!!! Washington @MomsDemand and @StudentsDemand volunteers just helped pass HB 1240, which prohibits the sale and manufacture of assault-style rifles, including semiautomatic rifles with detachable magazines.
The bill is now headed to @GovInslee for his signature. 💪
76 year old VA patient with acute changes in cognition and difficulty walking. Needed a wheelchair to get to and from the car. Had almost no affect and couldn't answer questions.
Over the last three weeks these are the medications we REMOVED. Today, he looked like a new man.

As a teacher, I saw the reality of families' lives. I realised how unrealistic some of our requests are.
Ask yourself, is this plan really achievable?

NEW DATA @NEJM
Only HALF of patients stop shedding #COVID (current wave) at day 5.

Worth the read. Glad to see more voices including @DavidCGrabowski elevating the need to better support #family caregivers. Doing so improves the health of the elders (and children) they support, too, as @sacjai and I wrote about a few years ago.
Many patients are family caregivers. The unmet needs of caregivers have been compounded by COVID. In new @Health_Affairs Forefront led by @TamrynGray, we examine how key stakeholders can advocate for policies that support patients who are caregivers

For my network: Kaiser Health News wants people's input as it prepares an in-depth dive into long-term care costs with the New York Times. If you have a story to share, please let us know.
.@sacjai .@DavidCGrabowski Might be of interest, a #delirium assessment tool. From the family caregiver perspective, #delirium is often mistaken for #dementia. More education is needed for family unit
