The Story of the Heroes of Geza Kenisha… This is the story of Eritrean Heroes, who grew up in the Geza Kenisha neighborhood of Asmara and joined the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) at various stages of the liberation struggle, ultimately making the ultimate sacrifice. Between 1975 and 1977, they formed a neighborhood football team and played together as childhood friends. Shortly after, they departed for the armed struggle, one after the other. The captivating story that followed is detailed in the 31st edition of the Hadas Eritrea newspaper, published on December 16, 1992. Eternal memory and glory to our heroic martyrs! Kudos #Eritrea ©TTO

Many families paid an extraordinary price for Eritrea's freedom and sovereignty. One family sacrificed six of their own children. Their sacrifices did not end there. Later, a grandson, the son of one of their daughters, also gave his life during the Ethio-Eritrea War. This family alone gave seven loved ones in service to their nation. Their story reflects the immense sacrifices made by countless Eritrean families whose courage and devotion helped secure and defend Eritrea's independence. May their sacrifice never be forgotten, and may their memory continue to inspire future generations. #June20 #ሰነ20 ዘለኣለማዊ ክብሪ ንሰማእታትና። ዓወት ንሓፋሽ!

Replying to @AmbStesfamariam
@AmbStesfamariam is a badass! Her remarks about the (un)special unverified claims reporter end of tenure. While he was hysterical she calmly asked what is the basis of the mandate when there are all these UN agencies to report on conditions in Eritrea?

During my visit to Orotta National Referral Hospital in #Eritrea, I was impressed by the dedication and professionalism of health workers delivering care under evolving challenges. The ongoing efforts to strengthen clinical services and improve patient care reflect a strong commitment to ensuring that people have access to quality health services when and where they need them. Continued investment in the health workforce and frontline services is essential to advancing universal health coverage so that no one is left behind.

Eritrea's Development Trajectory Presents an Interesting Paradox ASMARA ― Despite decades of conflict, economic sanctions, and diplomatic isolation, Eritrea has still recorded development outcomes that compare favorably with those of many developing countries receiving substantially higher levels of foreign aid, concessional financing, and international support. This suggests that unlimited financial assistance alone does not automatically translate into stronger development outcomes, but rather depends on competent governance and disciplined national priorities. Both #Eritrea and #Ethiopia, for example, score relatively low on many global development indicators. However, while Ethiopia has benefited from substantially greater diplomatic and financial support, Eritrea has had to pursue its development path with far more limited external resources. In that context, Eritrea’s progress deserves to be acknowledged and recognized on its own terms, even as both countries continue to face significant development challenges. At the same time, progress should not only be celebrated but also used as motivation to push further, especially in areas where gaps and shortcomings remain.

Red Sea Is Calling: How a Covert Smuggling Network Is Reshaping the Horn of Africa January 28, 2026 By Alula Frezghi Redseabeacon.com The Red Sea is no longer a mosaic of isolated crises. It has become a single, interconnected security ecosystem in which weapons, fighters, and political agendas circulate more efficiently than humanitarian assistance. A recent Ayin Network investigation into modified G3 rifles traced from Yemen to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) does more than document illicit arms trafficking. It exposes a regional proxy architecture, maritime, deniable, and deeply corrosive, that now links conflicts from Aden to Darfur. At the center of this architecture lies a familiar pattern: indirect power projection through logistics, intermediaries, and plausible deniability. While no single actor controls the entire chain, the operational coherence of the network points to state-enabled systems rather than ad hoc criminality. The consequences are regional in scale. And few states feel them more acutely than Eritrea, which sits astride the Red Sea while attempting, often quietly to contain instability it did not create. The Red Sea is calling. What it is revealing should alarm anyone concerned with the Horn of Africa’s future. One Rifle, Three Wars The Ayin investigation follows a single platform: the Cold War–era Heckler & Koch G3 rifle. On its own, this is unremarkable. The G3 is ubiquitous across conflict zones. What is notable is the rifle’s modification, movement, and reappearance across three distinct wars. In Yemen, prolonged conflict has transformed local arms markets into refurbishment hubs. Gunsmiths restore aging G3s and apply distinctive markings, such as “AlMRENZ” (“the Marines”) and counterfeit “USA” stamps, not for functionality, but for branding and obfuscation. Open-source intelligence analysts have documented identical markings across multiple rifles, suggesting coordinated modification rather than isolated improvisation.¹² From Yemen’s southern coast, these weapons traverse the Gulf of Aden toward Bosaso, Somalia, a port city long embedded in transnational smuggling economies. Weak regulatory oversight and entrenched networks allow weapons to be repackaged, re-brokered, and quietly redirected. This maritime corridor is not new. It has previously been associated with covert political and military movements linked to Gulf actors, indicating an established logistical pipeline rather than an opportunistic route.³. Zlatan Ibrahimović on Alexander Isak winning Player of the Match after scoring one goal and providing two assists against Tunisia national football team: 🗣️ “This is why I laugh when people ask if Alexander Isak belongs among the best strikers in the world. Tonight wasn't a debate it was a demonstration. One goal. Two assists. Player of the Match. He didn't just play well, he controlled the entire game. Every dangerous attack seemed to go through him. What impressed me most was how easy he made it look. Some players need ten chances to make an impact. Isak only needs one moment, and suddenly the whole match changes. Tunisia had defenders around him all night, but it didn't matter. He was too quick in his thinking, too calm on the ball, and too intelligent with his movement. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Sweden are not just a better team with Isak they are a completely different team. Opponents prepare differently when they know he's on the pitch. The scary part is that he's still improving. Most strikers are happy with a goal. Isak wants to score, create, dominate, and decide games all at once. If he keeps performing like this, people will stop talking about him as one of Sweden's stars. They'll start talking about him as one of the stars of the entire World Cup. And trust me, after a performance like tonight, a lot of defenders are already hoping they don't have to face him next.”

Meanwhile, in neighboring Eritrea, fruits and vegetables are in abundant supply, with prices that are comparatively lower than in both Ethiopia and, of course, Djibouti. Looks like there's a business opportunity waiting for someone living in the border area ... 😆

When #Ethiopia Sneezes, #Djibouti Catches a Cold DJIBOUTI — For a country that relies heavily on imports for nearly all of its food needs, Ethiopia's deepening economic crisis and soaring cost of living have inevitably spilled across the border, making life increasingly unbearable in Djibouti. Multiple reports from Djibouti point to a rapidly worsening cost of living crisis that is squeezing households, eroding purchasing power, and accelerating poverty in a country where many were already struggling to make ends meet.
