Give players opportunities to work on different skills in opposed, unopposed and overload/underload situations.
Tag games are not just fun activities.
They are skill development disguised as play. Cognitive: scanning and quick decisions. Technical: ball control while moving. Tactical: space awareness.
The best development happens when players are too busy enjoying themselves to notice.
It was interesting talking to a coach recently who wasn't looking forward to working with a new group, as it was out of his comfort zone.
I'm the complete opposite, as I love to challenge myself.
It's difficult, but getting out of your comfort zone is great for development ๐งต
Complex, not complicated.
This is the first in a poster series exploring the principles of play โ the ideas beneath formations, tactics, styles, and coaching preferences.
Part 1: strip the game back to its essential truths.
It's Principles.
Controlling the ball from the air looks effortlessโฆ but thereโs one secret all great players share in this video ๐
๐ They watch the ball ALL THE WAY to their touch.
But hereโs the full picture: theyโre not just staring blindly. Theyโve already scanned their surroundings firstโknowing exactly where opponents, space, and teammates are. That awareness lets them focus 100% on a clean, first touch.
Scan ๐ โ Track ๐ฏ โ Control โ
Master this, and aerial control becomes second nature.

โ Stop asking:
โWhat drill should I run tonight?โ
โ Start asking:
โWhat is this session developing over the next 6 months?โ
One question changes everything.
Inside the course weโll explore:
โฝ Why isolated sessions often fail to create long-term player development
๐งฉ How every training session should connect to the bigger picture
๐ฏ How to ensure every practice has a clear developmental purpose
Most coaches focus on what happens in the next 90 minutes
Elite coaches think about what happens in the next 90 sessions
If youโre serious about improving your coaching โon the grassโ, this course will challenge how you design training forever

There are times where those 4 or 5 IP, depending on their positioning in the area, they will be able to keep it for longer or cleaner. If they are not able, then is when I come in and correct body shape or positioning.
Fluidity and Cohesion does not have a time restraint it has a coaching DNA restraint as the coach must have a determination that goes to the core of their being fluidity and cohesion has value in long-term development and winning if not then time becomes the excuse
Fluidity & cohesion of a team takes time because it is shaped by redundancy (repeating the same ideas in different contexts) & variability. This redundancy & variability shapes our unconscious intentions which is crucial because consciousness can interrupt fluidity under pressure
