We have 2 more major blockbusters coming out soon from the lab in addition to the Radiology and J Hep papers published in the last 12 months. This NIH RO1 will end with a nice firework of papers. If it ever gets renewed a third time, it will not be for the lack of hard work that the students and post-docs put in. Everyone is working very very hard. This is truly not for the weak. Hot off the press in @CVIR_Journal! Our team at @YaleMed evaluated percutaneous #cryoablation for NSCLC recurrence after #SBRT, a challenging clinical scenario with few safe options. In 29 patients (35 sessions), we observed: - 100% technical success - Local control: 100% at 6 months, 76% at 1 year - 93% had COPD, yet only 1 required new or increased oxygen - Pneumothorax in 44%, hospitalizations in 36% Our findings highlight cryoablation as a promising, lung-sparing salvage therapy, especially when delivered by a multidisciplinary team. Collaborative care makes a difference for these high-risk lung cancer patients!
